Flooded with "Ukraine Beauties" last few days.
Most of them are 'Halloween treat" and "Halloween Queen". Do they celebrate Halloween in the spring there? Seems odd . The only reason i even noticed, it said Halloween.. thinking wtf is this ( or perhaps that was their intent, and it worked, sort of, as i did notice, but of course not taking the bait )
New technique in scams. ( friend noticed it today )
They have the typical legit looking email, with a legit looking link ( text ). Hover over the link to see where it really goes, its hidden. Using the hide html tag to hide the real link..
Dear Mr. Orazio:
Please be served with this notice that I have forwarded your email to an entire community of readers.
It is 20:42 here in US/Eastern time zone. Your "trojan" will no doubt discover that I have read your email and shared it.
Do your worst. We're all waiting with a big bowl of popcorn in hand.
Gosh, it's been a couple of weeks, and my family and friends and coworkers haven't received a split screen video of me watching pr0n. Is there something wrong, Mr. Orazio? Did you lose the video? Are you having trouble getting back onto my computer? Is there a particular pr0n site you need me to visit? You're really leaving me disappointed, Mr. Orazio.

I am LOLing so hard right now.
TBH if they caught me in video jerking off I don't think having it not distributed is worth the random they demand.
Well that stuff is already happening. Fake kidnapping and demanding ransoms.
Wed Jun 26 2024 18:03:00 EDT from IGnatius T FoobarEventually they'll simply make deepfakes of such a video instead of shotgun-blasting idle threats out to random people. We are at a weird point in history where everything is fake but not everyone knows that everything is fake.
"I am a professional hacker and I was able to hack your computer's operating system and see your history, bla bla and i'm impressed" "now pay up"
Impressed that my activity is about as boring as vanilla ice cream? LoL.

Vanilla icecream is nice. What is wrong about it?
The first known spam email sent was in 1978. Gary Thuerk, a marketing manager, sent approximately 400 people an email advertising his company’s new computer model. His spam efforts reportedly earned the company $13 million in sales.

Which of those 400 people didn't immediately delete the ad and boycott his business? Those are the people who should have been identified at the time and never allowed on the internet again.
In 1978, there were not a lot of options.
I suspect they were all current customers. He worked for Digital Equipment. If your entire business was on a vax, where else could you go, realistically?

Local police a couple of counties over:
"Bla bla people are calling around claiming to be us. bla bla get money out of bank and where to drop the bag off. several have been scammed out of thousands in the last few minutes "
How the hell could anyone fall for that?
Heard that the EU forced FB into offering no-ad subscriptions. Didn't see that offered here in the US. Might be but its not being marketed ..
( not that i would )
Was looking for a spring for a evil black rifle ( long story, got to play 'chase the flying spring' today. And i lost the game ), and hit a random place that sold parts: "we see you have an AD block, but you didn't block popups so here is an AD" ( and not just for themselves as i closed the window i noticed it had a McAfee subscription in the list )
F-them.
Will end up at ACE Hardware but was curious how much it was for a 'real' one, including shipping ( and looking for exact size )

They might have been annoyed, but it would be difficult to fault them for not anticipating that spam would someday be 90+ percent of all email.
While it was long after that, back when we had metered internet that was my biggest fear "what if i start getting garbage mail like from USPS and use up my monthly allotment just for that" ( GEnie, CompuServe.. even generic dilalup at one point had hourly limits )
Or later on, 'what if i get hit by a DoS, and im off line the rest of the month due to monthly bandwidth limits...
Got a new one today.
Had my name ( correct ). Had an older phone number for me in the body. And just an PDF. Sure, it was scam/spam/virus but i was curious as this was a new approach. Built a quick VM, copied the file, shut off network, accessed via console.
Well, just same old crap "i recorded you".
Tho they were kind enough to include a QR code for the bitcoin demand. Lol.
