Umm so Zukerburg now controls your activities in real life? And you dont even need an account to qualify for this? Am i mis-reading this?
"We’ve made our Terms easier to understand by providing more information about certain existing policies and practices. This includes things like clarifying that people or businesses may still be subject to our Terms when they are logged out or if they access our products without an account. We’ve also added links to our Terms for Avatars and AI, which apply if they’re available in your region."
Really wish i had the cash to sue Amazon, just to be a *head.
- "order within the next 5 hours, delivery Sunday"
- Hit order
- "Delivery Monday"
- Cancel
- Still shows Sunday
- Hit order again
- Still shows Monday
- Actually order
- "Estimated delivery Tuesday"
Not that care that its coming next week, its just the principle of them outright lying to people that pisses me off. Not sue if it qualifies as bait-switch, but i'm still sure there is a term out there.
Dude on Facebook got a video taken down due to copyright violation. His response was to post an image of the take down, call FB a bunch of names and insult the AI.
The correct response to this offense is to remove Facebook from the Internet, and remove everyone who works there from the planet. Honestly, what we really need is to find a way to make "The Big One" happen, permanently destroying Silicon Valley and everyone in it.
while i do agree in principle of course, in this case it wasn't really FB's fault. They are just following orders from the IP Cartel, to avoid being sued for infringement themselves.
To me the idea that Amazon owns your own personal videos is what concerns me. The ringtone that got it noticed.. fine, whatever its audio, if its unique, sure a 'reasonable' copyright.. ( tho what he did, id consider fair use.. )
wow, at least 30 emails "A reminder due to your pay-pal payment server problem bla bla" since lunch. Being flooded.
With slightly different subjects and bodies so cant make a rule just to shove it in the trash can. And oddly its not being tagged as spam either.
I created an account on "BlueSky" just to make sure no one else took my usual handle (igfoobar). It'll be fun to watch that site collapse once the lookie-loos get bored and the tantrum-havers realize that all of the real engagement is still happening on X.
They're going to find out what the rest of us found out when we were trying to escape from censorTwitter: it's practically impossible to escape the gravity of a site with such a huge network effect.
I still have high hopes for the long term prospects of federation and plan to write my own ActivityPub implementation eventually. But to go head to head with X and expect results is silly.
Bluesky still feels like an echo chamber for the intolerant, doctrinaire left (you know, the "no zionists allowed my my treehouse" set, and also the "if you disagree with me about purely scientific matters, you're a TRANSPHOBE" set)
I think that may be starting to change, as a number of more moderate X users have begin to stick their toe in the waters.

Just had my Bluesky account taken down. That didn't take long. Feels
like the old Twitter at its nadir of intolerance.
Man, I don't know why you keep trying. Are you trying to gather as much bad karma as you possibly can or something?

I've outlasted you, then, even though I am beginning to despise the place and their censorious approach to... everything.
(I don't post much and I'm at least somewhat careful.)
I want to get kicked off the Facebook clone called "LinkedIn".
Can anyone think of something I can post that's offensive enough to get booted off LinkedIn (which used to be ok but now is just Facebook) but that won't also find its way to HR and cause me to lose my job?
Asking for a friend. And by "a friend" I mean me.
Just close the account?

An account on LinkedIn seems like one of those things you "must have"
if you have a career. If I got kicked off the site, I'd have an excuse
to not be there.
... not a good excuse or one that would be looked upon favorably by catbert.

I was StinkedIn-free for a couple of years until the marketing department noticed that I wasn't in the list of people who could regurgitate their marketingspeak, and complained to my manager. The compromise we reached is that I will only access StinkedIn from my work machine, and I am allowed work time to do whatever marketing asks me to do on it (like 10 minutes every other month or so). New tactics?
Today i had 3 source repositories i have on 'watch' explode with pull requests, all were "bla bla at this web page here !" sort of nonsense. Total scam/spam, but due to the nature of email notices from git, the were not tagged.. ( in this case it was not actually github, but huggingface, which uses git as the engine, so same net effect )
One had over 200 emails before i was able to get in and turn off notices, and tried to tell the admin of that repo.
So I've got my "real" identity, which I only use online for work, mostly.
Then there's my nom-de-plume of choice, which I use here and a few other places I trust. You generally get the "real" me here. This can be traced back to a real person if you try even a little bit. And then there are the accounts with names known only by me, not even known by my family and closest friends, which I use in the comments section of political sites and other places where I want to be brutally honest without getting canceled.
I didn't want it to be this way. But we live in a world where too many people have the mindset where if you don't like something someone says, the correct response is to ruin their life. These people deserve a decade of slow torture followed by a steamroller death.
