My first passengers today was an expurrience I would prefur never to
repeat again.
I picked up a lesbian couple. They were extremely toxic. By the
end of the trip, they broke up.
I picked up a lesbian couple, I dropped off two single women.
mission accomplished?
Office is having a 'plastic free celebration' next week. ( what the hell that means i dont know, i cant stomach 2/3 of the emails now as they are so full of 'inclusion/equity/green/etc' )
I should go. Drive the Fiero, bring a plastic drinking bottle.
For whatever reason, a lot of Uber passengers don't push the button to close the liftgate on my car. Instead, they reach up and just force the thing down. Now it will occasionally get stuck when I push the button to auto-close. Something broke. I looked up how much it costs to replace just ONE liftgate actuator motor. It's $2400 for ONE of them, and there are two (port and starboard).
Does not surprise me. Everything is over priced.
Any way to disable them while you are carting people around? Prevent that from happening?

Nope! There are no hydraulic or gas lifters like in older cars, it's just the motors.

While the idea does fit within the theme, i cant, firearms are banned at my work, via legislative action.

Bring your Glock.

Ooooh. It's hard to blame them for that when most of them probably aren't even aware it has a self-closing option.
"we decided you are changing platforms"
Well there goes 15+ years of work. Starting over, with what connects to EVERY part of our business. And is our core. ( and 35 business units.. 40000 end users.. )
Sort of saw it coming for a while. I was hoping it would get derailed. But no.

just the part? or dealer labor??
cars are getting too complex these days. I try to go easy on the techy option packages... or I would, if I were buying new.

Imagine you are a sysadmin and your firm depends on an application. Most customer facing employees interface with your application using a tablet or smartphone running Android. OpenBSD workstation terminals also support it.
Boss gets an iPhone. iOS has a bug that maks it not work properly with the application everybody else in the firm is using. He comes at you angry as heck and tells you to fix it.
Since this is a mini RPG, your options are limited:
1) Do you replace the application, the software running on every client terminal in the firm, install some solution that does not missfire in the iPhone, and retrain everybody to use it?
2) Do you get an Android table for the boss so he has a portable terminal capable of using the application?
Guess which one is the one I was made to pick lol
i have had to do it both ways at various times, mostly depending on the 'boss'
Related we had a developer once that got a huge monitor ( early 90s.. not common ) to work on. He developed a non-important phone book app, on his own with no directive, mostly to learn stuff. At his resolution. Boss thought it was neat. "lets use this"
- Option 1 = spend a couple of days and redo the interface a bit.
- Option 2 = spend 100K or so and buy new monitors for everyone in the place.
They chose option 2. For a phone book....
