😂😂😂
I *love* this idea!
Two employees of the month. Ones that will open their doors carefully next to the bosses car. Everyone else can fight it out out in the lot!Â

How about enforced social distancing for cars.

I'd smear my cars with live Covid 19 cultures if it would get people to give them 6 feet distance in parking lots. Figure out how effective the vaccine is real quick that way.Â
I also suspect that most of the people who have so much disregard for another person's stuff that they'll intentionally put a door ding into your car, scratch or key it, or otherwise damage something because they're bitter that they don't have that thing themselves...Â
Tend to be the Mandatory Masks/Shut Down The Economy people in most cases - too.Â
Just anecdotally.Â

I figured. I'd take a gamble, though... and employees who got preferred parking and then I ended up with a door ding, would disappear from the company payroll. :)Â

Mon May 03 2021 14:09:10 EDT from IGnatius T FoobarOh no, he wouldn't go that far. It was the same two people, from the day the office was established until the day he sold the company.

Yay yearly harassment training. SOB locked up as i finished and hit the 'i accept these terms for employment'. And had to do it again. It didnt even save ONE quiz.. or tag the videos as watched.
Â
I want my 30 minutes back.
😂
Tue May 04 2021 10:32:09 EDT from IGnatius T FoobarYeah, I just turn the volume down on the videos and let them play while I do something else. Then when the "tests" come up I just select for each question the answer that offends *me* the most, and I ace it every time.

This is what Cell phones are for.Â
Â
Tue May 04 2021 11:01:25 EDT from Nurb432these end up pausing if they lose focus on your screen. Damned annoying.
Â
I got around it by doing it in a vm ( its not like i dont have spare desktop VMs laying around, mostly turned off ), so it never knew it lost focus.  With ours, it would be about impossible to do the 'test' on a phone due to screen layout.Â
Tho at least its not requiring flash any more. It did as of last year..Â

Well, the VM solution works.Â
I just mean, when your PC is tied up with something you need to ignore and you can't screw off on the PC...Â
That is when you use the phone to screw off, instead. :)Â

If i wasn't able to run my office load as VM id be in the same boat and have to use the shop laptop for all things work. But i can, so i do :)Â
office VPN is run inside the VM. So its not on my network, in practical terms anyway.
Fri May 07 2021 12:27:05 PM EDT from IGnatius T FoobarI have two computers at my desk, one for work and one for non-work. Using a heavily monitored work computer for non-work is a fast track to a meeting with HR. They don't interact with each other -- ever.
Â
I could probably do that, but I'm afraid that I'd either accidentally leak something between machines, or more likely, paste something into the wrong VM, or forget which one has focus, or something horrible like that.
When it takes two actions, switch the monitor, switch the USB chain (keyboard/mouse/camera), my brain makes the switch between work and non-work modes with it.
My HR folder is thick enough without them following me around online.
Hmm was checking my availble sick time at work ( to take some more time off to handle the sick wife ) and seems i have 700 hours of sick time accumulated.. Â
But also checked vacation just since it was there too.. im @ a tad over 2000 hours. I guess that is what you get when you dont take any time off for 20 years..
Â
I guess i should take a day or two off this summer.Â
oh ya, i did take a day once about 10 years ago. When i broke my arm in 1/2 i took a day off for surgery to get an artificial bone and joint put in.  But next morning, i was working.Â
I have copy/paste turned off .. And our VPN is no longer multi homed, so when its on, its really off my network.Â
But technically they allow personal devices on vpn to get to office resources ( not that i would ever do that ) so we are a bit more lax in some areas ( but worse in others, like VDI only way to access RDP to get to a server. 2 hops. and there was actually talk of isolating the PDZ so that you have to check in your incoming/outgoing data, then get it reviewed.. that was killed as it would basically make everything grind to a halt and in reality, no one could run an app back there either ). Â

At Intel, I made them put in a DSL line even though I already had cable - just for remote work.Â

"No internet? Well, you can just come into the office then"
But, we are not a tech firm either.
