Lastly, nobody's ignoring illegal immigration; deportations reached record levels.

Record lows? ;-)

Yes, debt is okay when there is significant growth to support it. We don't have that. Just super low interest rates, which we can't not sustain.

The best wat to handle the last recession was to do NOTHING. Bush screwed up bailing out AIG. Obama made it worse.

We're also over 100% GDP in debt. Obviously, we're not at Japan levels, but it's a tipping point that most economists feel nations can not recover from.

As for the trade deficit, I don't really worry about it as much as our debt.

If we can consume our own goods and the goods of others, we're still in better shape.

I would not want to be a nation dependant on exports. If the nations you sell to have economic issues, you're really screwed.

I don't understand the relationship between GDP and debt.  One is an annual figure and one is a fixed number.  Is this just an arbitrary observation?  It would seem that the more appropriate comparison would be GDP vs. the annual deficit.  But what do I know, I'm just some ordinary dude who can do math.

Ford has announced that they're canceling their Mexico expansion plans and will instead invest $700,000,000 in Michigan, creating more American jobs to build cars domestically.

And their CEO *explicitly* stated that they are doing this as a vote of confidence in the incoming Trump administration.

There you have it, folks. Trump has accomplished more good for the USA in two months than 0bama has in eight years, and he hasn't even been sworn in yet. This is what we in the reality-based community call "awesome."

Forget that, check out what's happening in Russia. Obama is trying to start World War III on his way out the door. Between kicking out their diplomats and mobilizing our forces to the border, it's like he *wants* a war. Maybe he does. He's so arrogant that he'll let millions of people get killed if it helps their narrative that Russia tampered with our election results.

We need our new commander-in-chief to take charge as soon as possible.

Nonsense.  Obama is a peace prize recipient, he wouldn't want war.  Besides after Jan 20 liberals will hate war again, so we can't have a war.

As usual, much ado about nothing. Iraq pullout was the continuation of Bush administration policies - the original status-of-forces agreement with the Iraqi government included a set withdrawal date.

Stand by and hold on to your seats. This message will end with me saying something nice about a demokrat.

I just finished watching the electoral votes being tallied in congress. Biden presided over the proceedings, as is customary. After the results for each state that went for Trump/Pence, some random demoKKKrat on the floor stood up to enter a formal objection. To his immense credit, Biden didn't put up with any of it. Each time it happened, Biden put down the objection, said there is not going to be any debate on the floor, and rejected the objections because they were not co-signed by other senators.

And then of course when all the votes were tallied, protests began from a bunch of triggered snowflakes who had made it into the gallery. Biden had them removed immediately, finished the proceedings, and closed the session.

Biden did a great job keeping order and keeping things moving. One would expect that as part of the Obama team he would have given plenty of air time to the troublemakers, but I think he just wanted this thing to be over and done with. He did a good job closing this thing out with some class and some dignity.

I'm still here ... let's see, how can I prove it's still me ... ah, here we go!

Anyone who is not Certified 100% Hitler Equivalent (tm) must absolutely agree with me that Merryl Streep is a danger to all of humanity and the only acceptable response is to seal up the entire venue in which they are holding the "golden globes"
ceremony, pump in cyanide gas, and exterminate the entire gaggle of America-hating, decency-hating, everything-hating communist socialist scum.

I don't know about Streep but Jimmy Fallon is a danger.  He isn't funny, he never was.  He was a writer on SNL, proving he was never funny.  He has that goofy smile laugh like an uncomfortable 13 year old boy laughing at a fart joke.  Lastly he says he was born in "upstate" New York, anyone who calls the entire state of NY "upstate" is an pompous idiot.

I often wondered how many times Fallon and Seth Meyers had to let Lorne Michaels fuck them up the ass in order for those two talentless idiots to get their gig hosting a tv show.

I think we've covered this before. If you live in New York state, "upstate" is anywhere north of you. If you don't live in New York state, "upstate" is anywhere other than New York City.

I'd be happy if NYC could secede from the state. Then maybe the rest of us could get some representation back.

There has been talk of the state of NY separating from the city as long as I can remember.

I think the bottom of the state needs to be leveled off.  Anything under Delaware, Green, and Columbia counties needs to be separated.  I might make an exception for Ulster county. With this the new NY city state needs to pay higher fees for any water or electricity produced in the state.

Having grown up in Oneida county prior to moving to South Jersey, that's always tweeked me, just a bit.

Albany is upstate. Syracuse is upstate. Glenn's Falls is upstate. Lake Placid is upstate. Lake George is upstate.

Poughkeepsie is NOT upstate. White Plains is NOT upstate. Ramapo is NOT upstate.

Having moved out of Con Edison territory a couple of years ago, I hereby officially propose that you should be stabbed in the face with a Buick for suggesting that.

Let the city pay for its own electric infrastructure. Let the city pay for ALL of its own infrastructure. Leave us folks in Westchester alone.

(Of course, there is also Long Island, which is technically just part of Queens.
They deserve high electricity prices because the eco-hitlers there allowed the Shoreham nuclear plant to be shut down.)
