Person A took a picture over 6 years ago. Person B is in the picture. Person A gets to know Person B years later through social media. Person A then notices Person B in the photo. Person B, upon seeing the photo, notices it's him, and finds the photo he was taking when Person A shot the photo of him taking a photo.

I had to double-check this to make sure I wasn't reading something from The Onion, or perhaps that the story might have been in Takoma Park, MD. But, no... it's from USA Today, and the story is in Greenacres, Fl.
There is a I have lived near Green Acres NY and near Green Acres Fl. Although Green Acres NY might have been a
trailer park I am not sure. Green Acres FL is in Palm Beach Co Fl. They couldn't figure out how to vote in

lock this one up and throw away the key! 4 years to go to trial because of defense stalling, I'll bet the trial itself will take about a week.
In that her lawyers aren't treating her as insane, and can't just dismiss her out of hand. Neither can the state, apparently.
Ok, she's changed lawyers 11 times. That's because all her lawyers doubtless advised her that her defense is not going to fly, and she needs to mount an insanity defense--kind of too late to not admit to the actual killing... and I would assume she's repeatedly refused to allow the insanity defense, and has fired her lawyers instead.
So she isn't so insane that she can't fire her lawyers. Her lawyers are, apparently, unable to forcibly defend her. And the state apparently won't recognize that she's nuts (regardless of whatever evidence suggests it).
She's in the weird area between insanity and sanity, at least where she's playing around with the courts.
Now, if she were completely bat-shit crazy to the point of incoherency, I'm sure the state would forcibly defend her regardless of her will in the matter.
she *might* have been found not guilty by reason of insanity, had she allowed it. down the path she is going, she can't possibly get less than a manslaughter conviction... (but if I were on the jury, I'd vote for a murder conviction)
Still an edge case, no?
At what point are you so insane that you can't prevent yourself from being found "not guilty" by reason of insanity?
I know the law provides a hard rule for this, but she probably falls right on the edge of that rule. She's nuts... maybe even nuts enough that she should be put in an asylum rather than a jail... but she will probably simply be accused of murder and handed a sentence accordingly, regardless of her insanity... and likely because of her handling of the lawyers.
Just insane enough to screw up her case, but not insane enough to simply be committed.
(Either way, she's going to be put away for a long time, if not killed.)
This woman has the mentality of a Raskolnikov. She thought she /knows better/ so she had the power of life and death. If that's not criminal I don't know what is - so you've got to really look askance, at the least, at any application of the insanity defense in such a case - because it sends the wrong message.
It's possible for people to be criminally insane. It doesn't mean they get a freebie... it just means that they can't really defend themselves.
As I said, either way, she's going to be put away for some time.
