That is good.

But being on more than one news service, makes you wonder as i did look around for other sources, and found them.  I think it was NBC covered it too. At least one of the other 3 letter government propaganda agencies. i forget which one now. ABC? i donno.

Yeah, you're not wrong. There were several articles that read like they were copypasta'd from the same poorly-written source, which was lightly sourced and seemed to come from some guy who was smoking pot and kinda half-paying-attention during the original 60 Minutes broadcast.

I figured it wasn't real... but I was interested in the reaction to it.

Lots of good things have actually come from government thinktanks and labs. I agree that there have been lots of abuses - but corporations are just as guilty of unethical behavior as Government.

For every Tuskagee Experiment you can name I can find a "Yeah, big tobacco knew it was addictive, knew it was deadly, genetically engineered it to be MORE addictive, *and* marketed it to kids."

But that doesn't mean EVERY government program has been insidious, or that every Corporation is out to get kids hooked as the previous generation dies early from complications related to the addiction to the product.

These are really just simple logic tests. "If All As are Bs and Some Cs are Bs then All Bs must be..."

The whole eagerness to believe that

A: The Government has developed a microchip capable of detecting Covid in the bloodstream

B: That this is really a front for something more sinister, biblical, Orwellian, or apocalyptical

Disturbs me.

I discussed this thread/article with my wife last night after logging off, and expressed my doubts. My first thought was, "something like this, why would you limit it just to Covid? I would revolutionize healthcare. Imagine if everyone could have an early detection system that scanned the bloodstream for signs of infection or disease. If you could do it with Covid, it would be trivial to add scans for cancer, for hepatitis, for any bloodborne infection or disease."

Why *wouldn't* you sign up for that? OBD-II for humans? Make me a cyborg. I'll take my chances.

I suspect the Government often works through corporations to release advancements like this - BECAUSE of the nature of human reaction to Government with distrust but to companies, especially trusted ones, with blind allegiance.

If some Government lab released this discovery, people would turn it down for free.

But if it was an Apple branded product that worked with your iDevice, there would be lines around the Apple store waiting to pay a premium for it.

That it truly detected covid, no. ( not that its impossible, just doubtful ) That it was for sinister purposes, yes. Especially since i dont see a practical implant detecting it so it had to be for sinister reasons.

No i dont trust them AT ALL.  In 56+ years of my life they have not provided *anything* to change that feeling. Nothing else, they have reinforced it many times over.

I have mixed emotions on this thought.

Maybe the majority of society - being sheep and not very capable of critical thought - need and deserve exactly the system they get.
Maybe it is on those of us who are superior to the rest of society to figure out how to keep ourselves exempt from the limitations that applies to all the mouth-breathers.

It isn't a pleasant thought - but the last year really kind of put a spotlight on how incompetent, incapable and irrational most of society is.

It certainly creates a hassle and dilemma for the rest of us - having to figure out how to avoid being limited in our personal freedoms and potential by the slowest ships in the fleet - when most of the fleet is paddleboats.

But I've certainly come to understand how someone could come to have contempt for the mass of humanity as a whole.

Yes, this last year or so has been very enlightening for many, and validation for others ( like myself ).  I do agree with the ship analogy, problem is today the ones that do break out form the pack and get noticed, get torpedoed by people far more powerful than any of us.

And while i do have a dim view on the human race in general, there are always exceptions.  "good" people are out there.

There are all kinds of electronic cybernetic enhancements that can be
placed inside the human body - starting with fairly low tech devices

And continuing to this day with the nanobots that Bill Gates put in his vaccines.

i for one welcome our new nanite overlords.

Did I mention how I felt when covid was causing delirium issues for me? Like the Borg nanites were infecting my brain and I was losing control of my own thoughts. I was afraid I would never get that control back.

That's the reality of covid for all too many of us (the rate of psychiatric illness is HIGH in recovered hospital patients.)

And I know y'all are joking, but I feel like there's some hardcode antivaxers out there who are NOT joking in their suspicion of what "Gates" put in "his" vaccine. Those people need to wake up from their fever dreams.

So, speaking about vaccines...

It just occurred to me that the claims about the efficacy of the vaccines all suffer from the maxim that you can't prove a negative.

I mean... average people take the vaccine and then they walk around confident that it has a 98% efficacy after 5 weeks and a 2nd dose.

But what exactly does this really mean?

I mean, natural chance had about an 85% efficacy against catching the virus. I think about 15% of the population ended up catching it...

So... I assume that what they mean is that in clinical trials, those who got placebos or were in control groups maintained an infection rate of about 15% of their groups... and in those who were given the real thing, that about 2% ended up getting infected.

And later studies in actual populations outside of clinical studies showed similar results.

But you're dealing with limited numbers in clinical studies, and hard to track results among general populations.

And a baseline for naturally NOT getting the infection that is a pretty high number to begin with.

But I don't think most people getting the vaccine really think through the numbers like this. They're anything but precise.

I said, having woke up with a bit of a sore throat and a general sense of being under the weather, with chills but no fever.

That was part of what i had when i 'know' i had it January of last year.

It was like a flu, but no fever and didnt want to toss my guts out.  pretty sore and feeling like poo, but not 'normal' flu.  2 weeks and i was over it so it wasn't a cold.

I also had my kidneys just shut down due to a stone, and had been in hospital for tests several times the week prior.   But now that i look back, i dont think it was the stone, as it did go thru soon afterward, normally when it gets that stuck, its surgery..   and kidneys shutting down turns out to be a sign of the infection too..  I'm sure i caught it from being with all those sick people getting tests run.

As soon as that happened and they turned back on is when i felt terrible.   sooo 2+2 most likely does = 4.

Also had several couple people at the office drop out at the same time with a 'strange flu'. (  i was going in to work, just on a lot of pain killers for a week or so ) so could have got it from there, or i brought it in. Hard to tell.

This is part of the problem. We're operating on so many unknowns. How many people DID have it and didn't even ever know? In any case, in a test group, in the post-vaccine study, or in the general population.

And of course, any time we have a strange bug now that isn't enough to warrant going to the GP - we *assume* - "this is PROBABLY Covid." But if every time I felt a little under the weather I went in for a Covid test, I'd probably develop nasal cancer from shoving so many q-tips into my brain.

With the death rate so low, i bet millions.

I suspect in reality we had that elusive' herd immunity' before the virus had a name.
