Do a "ps ax" and see if there is a citserver process running. If not, start the service.

Also be aware that the Debian packages are very out of date. Use the Easy Install build if you can.

"Easy Install" build? I assume that's the one with the in-terminal graphics? I pulled from apt, since this is on a Raspberry Pi.

Anyway, ps shows four webcit processes, none of them are specifically called "citserver" though. Using `sudo service citserver start` doesn't change that, so I'm assuming this is correct? Looks like the following:

Interestingly enough, when I restart citadel, Apache seems to restart too. Is this normal?

Yes, I already tried database_Cleanup.sh

Finshed without errors, but as soon as I call db_recover I get the error messages about cdb.02 and write cursors

Hi,

I've setup Citadel with Internet mail. Its working fine. Sending and receving mail from the Internet is working good.

I then installed Spamassin on the same server and configured it to rewrite the header. I then told citadel is was running at 127.0.0.1. to flag the messages instead of rejecting.

In the syslog en mail.log I can see that its running. One problem however, its not recognizing spam. Test spam email just arrive without an updated subject.

What am I mssing here?

Is it possible to upgrade from a deb install to an easy install by copying the DBs and restoring them after the easy install?  Noticed that easy install uses '/usr/local' now. Thanks for all the great work, Citadel is the best!

Thanks for the kudos! Yes, you can move all of your data files to /usr/local/citadel and then run Easy Install, and it will pick up those data files and upgrade your installation.

1. After moving the data files you will of course want to remove the .deb installation of the program
2. Naturally, BACK UP EVERYTHING, preferably a snapshot of the whole machine, so you can go back if it doesn't work!

Tried easy install with curl, wget and downloaded the install script and ran it, but every effort gave a connection refused.  Also I stopped apache and ufw/iptables to eliminate any interference.

Me too:

sudo apt-get install build-essential curl g++ gettext shared-mime-info libssl-dev zlib1g-dev

Then:

curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

Returns:

curl: (7) Failed to connect to easyinstall.citadel.org port 80: Connection timed out

If it's any help, using ' curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | sh'  from my home box works, but doesn't work on my remote linode server.

Do I need "|sudo bash" ?

I would do "sudo -s" to get a root prompt, and then do "curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash" from that prompt.

Not sure what to tell you here ... the server is up and running. Can you curl to any other site?

Yes, no problem with other sites, both with wget and curl.

"Connecting to easyinstall.citadel.org (easyinstall.citadel.org)|216.150.130.112|:80... failed: Connection refused."

Since it's refusing a connection, I wonder if my linode ip is in a banned range on your server? 23.239.7.24  Probably going to get a million attacks from posting the ip.

Finally!  Not only did I need to stop ufw/iptables, but had to 'iptables --flush'.  To clear memory I assume. Found that out by pinging the Citadel site, even that was rejected. So I figured it had to be on my end.

Thanks for your help!

Just a note:  also had to run /usr/local/webcit# ./setup  . Looks like this:

"WebCit already appears to be configured to start at boot.
Would you like to keep your boot configuration as is?"

Yes/No [Yes] --> No
Would you like to automatically start WebCit at boot?
Yes/No [Yes] --> Yes

After that I set the http and https request ports and voila, 927!  It's working again.

Also, for anyone on the same path as I, had to run "/usr/local/citadel/citserver -x9 " and "/usr/local/citadel./setup" to get the sockets in order.

Many thanks to the Citadel Team!

It's a great way to setup a mail server.

Happy to hear it's working. Enjoy your Citadel installation! And no, we don't normally ban IP addresses unless there's a *really* hostile attack coming in.

Sorry, but another victim of the " db: cursor still in progress on cdb 02: attempt to write during r/o cursor"

Two installations, both via Easy Install - one on a raspberyypi running raspian "stretch", the other on Ubuntu 18.04 on AMD 64.

I've tried database_cleanup.sh, I've also tried various of the db-utils on copies of the database.

Seems the available utils do not work on the db-6.2.3 database that Easy Install  puts in.

db_recover :db_recover: BDB2531 Unacceptable log file log.0000000001: unsupported log version 23

Thanks for any help
