Subject: Is Bynari Gone?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I'm evaluating Citadel for use as a groupware server for a client.  Outlook compatibility is - as usual - a must.  IMAP alone is not sufficient.  Once, years ago, I set up Citadel with the Bynari Connector to the satisfaction of a client with similar needs.  Checking now, however, I seem to be unable to find a working website for Bynari.  Is the company defunct, and if so are there any alternatives for Citadel and Outlook?  Of course, Office 365 is making in-house servers less desirable for companies that are already getting the Office suite via subscription, but I still run into the odd company that wants to own their copies of Office and still have Outllok groupware functionality - without the expense of Exchange Server.

I'm not sure what the status of Bynari is at this point. That connector product worked great with Outlook and Citadel. I think in the future we'll probably connect with Outlook using some sort of DAV interface, but right now we're in sort of an awkward in-netween time.

Configure Error: libical/icah.h was not found and is required. More info: http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/installation:start

The last few lines above this message may indicate what went wrong

Subject: Citadel with Clam AV

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I followed the URL noted below on setting up Citadel with ClamAV:

http://www.citadel.org/doku.php?id=documentation:citadel_with_spamassassin_and_clamav

I even tried using the local IP and loopback with no luck.  I know clamAVis running based on the following

[root@my-host mail]# ps -ef |grep -i clam

root     14388 14385  0 09:00 ?        00:00:00 /bin/bash /usr/share/clamav/freshclam-sleep

clamupd+ 16984     1  0 09:50 ?        00:00:00 freshclam -d

root     17945 15087  0 10:09 pts/0    00:00:00 grep --color=auto -i clam

I am trying to test it using EICAR (https://www.eicar.org/) but the email comes through as is.  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got this *clam* process on my server, seems that you don't have the
clamd running.

UID PID PPID C TIME CMD
clamav 2013 1 0 08:30:13 /usr/sbin/clamd
clamav 2124 1 0 01:25:53 /usr/bin/freshclam -d --quiet

s3cr3to is correct. To use ClamAV with Citadel, the clamd process must be running, and then you can point to it (presumably on localhost) from Citadel.

"freshclam" is ClamAV's auto-updater. It's not the ClamAV service itself.

Subject: Problems installing Citadel on Raspberry Pi 3 using Raspbian Distro

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to install Citadel using the distro install options on Raspbian (apt-get install citadel-suite). But for some reason, when I try to login, I only get a "Please Wait..." message that goes way after 4 secs. After tailing the /var/log/syslog, I got the following output at the bottom. Any ideas?

after sending an email by clicking "send message", I got an error on loading up the post page (inet_e_download_failure). The email sent, therefore:

<div style="display:none" id="submit-o-matic"><ul>

</a>

</li>

function submit_post(which_action) {

document.enterform.submit_action.value = which_action;

document.enterform.submit();

}

The Send message completed, but the post message failed. If I do a refresh on the browser, the post page comes up.

Any idea? Thanks.

Subject: Cannot log in to Citadel server after setting up.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have set up the Citadel server suite on my Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian. I intend to use the server to handle all my e-mails. Upon reaching the login page, I attempt to log in using the administrator account I set up. It replies with "WRONG PASSWORD" and if not, it hangs on the "Loading" screen eternally. I do believe this is because I set the time zone to Detroit, because I encountered the missing time zone error earlier, and so because I couldn't find the binary translation for New York or whatever else is there, I used Detroit. That might be the problem. I'll edit this if I find something.

Thanks,

Titus

I assume, you are on version 8. Try running setup again. Setup is a
file in your citadel directory. You will get prompted for the same
inputs again. Once done, launch your site.

Hello!

I have an installation on ubuntu that has been working for years.

Suddenly it seems like citserver is restarting every few seconds.

This is from syslog:

Any idea what it can be?

I have had some lsn errors lately and run db_load -r lsn on some databases several times.

Could it be a database problem?

Hi,

I have also a segfault probelm on devuan-testing (debian w/o systemd), kernel 4.19.28-2, 4.19.0-4-amd64. I have tested with the original packages, I have recompiled a actual snapshot and also tested with recompiled berkeley db lib and on different computers. It's always the same.

Output in syslog:

It's possibile that the probelm is since the kernels build with LKMM feature.
The problem comes from CtdlGetDataStr called cdb_fetch in database.c, and there ret = dbp[cdb]->get(dbp[cdb], TSD->tid, &dkey, &dret, 0);

best regards, stb

I don't know what a Speicherzugriffsfehler is, or why it would choose to collapse on Betelgeuse Seven, but if you did something to corrupt your database you might try running the database_cleanup.sh script to dump and load it.
Take a backup first.

Hi to All!

So I inherited this UBUNTU Server with Citadel Loaded and I must fix Citadel as it was hacked and will not send email.

I am VERY RUSTY at Unix/Linux so I'm taking a stab at it with the help of this forum and all you smart folks.

I opened a shell via PuTTY and, after becoming ROOT, entered the command suggested on the Install page.

It compiled for at least 5 minutes then I received:

checking libical/ical.h usability... no

checking libical/ical.h presence... no

checking for libical/ical.h... no

configure: error: libical/ical.h was not found and is required.  More info: http

 Citadel Easy Install is aborting.

 The last few lines above this message may indicate what went wrong.

 Linux Debian jessie/sid( 3.13.0-32-generic x86_64)

So, at this point, I need help as I don't know how to find/do this.

Any volunteers?

Since ical wasn't found, I would start with installing the package libical-dev (apt-get install libical-dev) and go from there.

Or from / try the command "find . -name ical.h -print" to see if the file ical.h is on the system.  If it is, then check your path to make sure it is in the path.

Hi,

Speicherzugriffsfehler is the german translation for segmentation fault.

If I delete the database, then the new database was created and then comes the segmentaion fault.

A stratce is in the attachement
