Subject: Re: How To Keys with Letsencrypt

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Step 0 - Obtain cert through some way likely using certbot certonly - protip, I use the domain and mail server name in the alt name, so -d mymailhost.net -d mail.mymailhost.net offers some convenience if you're going to use the same box with citadel and a web interface. If you have any doubts, consult many other tutorials, and use --dry-run until you know what you are doing.

Step 1 - Citadel mail Cert

Copy the files from /etc/letsencrypt/live/<domain> to the citadel keys directory (/usr/local/citadel/keys for ezinstall)  A link won't work because root owns the files in /etc/letsencrypt ..citadel will hang/die.  I wrote a tutorial on this a while ago, posted here, don't see it at the moment.   I believe fullchain.pem -> citadel.csr and privkey.pem -> citadel.key.  But you should look at the content of those files to be sure.  There was some valid reason for using the fullchain, probabily to prevent an error in T-bird when letsencrypt was getting started.   This is for authentication from a mail client for SMTP, not SMTP smarthost setup.

Step 2 - Webcit SSL Cert

If you're using webcit, do something similar in /usr/local/webcit/keys/ (those are ezinstall locations, yours may vary), which is used for the SSl on 443 for webcit.  I don't use it as a daily thing, but it's handy to have it up for configuration changes.  You can run webcit it with ssl on an alternate port (2000), while still running some other web mail client on 443 on the same box.

Since this doesn't seem to support searching the message base...

Running on a RaspberryPi very latest Raspbian.

Need to install keys with generated with Let's Encrypt and Certbot.

Anybody have a tutorial?

Thanks

Subject: Citadel info

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello, I'm pretty new about Citadel and I like so much, fast, with its rooms schemas etc.. I have some noob questions:

1. Is there an help to manage as administrator Citadel server I installed on my server ? I did some search on google but the links seem to be broken

2. Same thing for end user. I'm a bit lost on simple things such as how to search messages in a room or all the rooms

3. In your installation in advanced section there is a File library item which I have not in mine. Could you please tell me how it is active ?

I would have other simple questions but with a help on kine or pdf or so I think I can avoid to bother you.

Thank you

Antonio

We always welcome new translations!

Look in the ./webcit/po/webcit/ directory and you will find the "language packs" for the user interface. Just create one for the language that you're implementing and it should compile right in to the software. Then send it in so it can become part of the mainline package.

You can also do the same for ./citadel/po/citadel-setup/ to create a language pack for the setup program.

so i thought great time to make a language pack but one i started looking for the mentioned directories i can's seem to find them i did follow the instructions from the download site to check /usr/local/citadel and /usr/local/webcit and just to be sure i also checked /ust/local/ctdlsupport but they seem to not contain the mentioned directories and before you start asking i think i can awnser a few of your questions before hand so her goes

yes i am new to ubuntu and yes i followed the instructions to the letter

so hope this helps a little

Hello, I did a new installation on ubuntu server 18.04. For some reason language is english ignoring my setting for italian. Is there a way to change it ?

Sorry, it was my fault for the language. there was a problem with ubuntu server installation. I installed italian language pack, configured ubuntu config file and run again reconfigure for citadel. I had to create bio and userpics folder by myself, changin owning for citadel group and user tough, then reconfigure was succesful.

Thank you

If you're attempting to install a package that calls 'ifup' and 'ifdown' on the newer Ubuntu 18.04 distribution, you may experience problems, as ifupdown was deprecated in favor of 'netplan.io', and is no longer installed on that distribution.

The new command is 'ip link set $device up' and 'ip link set $device down'.
Because if you have to type more, the command works better, right?

Not knowing how ifupdown was used by Citadel for installation, I don't know exactly how to advise an update to the package.

I know, though, there are tricks for modifying an existing Debian package to modify its install/uninstall scripts, if you feel brave:

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/138188/easily-unpack-deb-edit-postinst-and-repack-deb

But, if you're a bit new and not too adventurous, you might want someone else to get to the package for you.

Hrm... 'upstart'?

I thought Ubuntu was making moves away from upstart to prefer systemd these days, in which case, the package might be attempting to install services incorrectly.

I have a bit too much experience in packaging for linux ... I have a funny feeling I'm gonna drag myself into this. I have the skill these days to create a debian package that would run on most distributions of debian without having to worry about whether the distribution used upstart, systemd, or sysvinit.
And I'm starting to get into packaging for Redhat/CentOS as well.

Dammit IG... I think you're gonna wind up sucking me in.

if you click rooms on the menu on the left here you get to see all rooms. in the top left box you see 'my folders the third option from the top is where your drafts are saved, if you saved a draft that is

I'm sorry for this simple questions but without a documentation I'm a bit lost.

well i thought let me see myself and Anotonioà is right there is no way to edit your draft again.

So i am guessing you have to copy and past your post/mail/message and start a new one

and i say don't feel sorry we all have to start fro somewhere and i am also still learning how citadel works as i still walk into a few problems myself as well.

and yeah missing documentation isn't making things any easier

Well, I like so much this groupware software because it's fast, simple to install and manage, it remembers me the old times gone of BBS :).

I'm trying it to evaluate for a couple of server istance but missing documentation and a bit of support is a pain.

well i have to retract my awnser as i was on my own citadel server and left the test draft there for a little and i was like 'let's delete it now' so i reloaded the page to be sure i would delete it and low and behold an edit button apears so i guess i takes a little while before you can edit your posts/messages/mails
