According to that log, it couldn't link to libsieve, even though libsieve had clearly been installed.  That is quite weird.

Can you attach the full log please?  We need to see what happened during the libsieve build.

unfortunately the 2nd try has overwritten the original log. I also did some updates overnight... but attached you find the current EasyInstall Log

How can I trigger a complete recompilation?

I just did a fresh install of OpenSuSE 42.3 on a different machine - standard install and then installed citadel-9.01-13.19.x86_64 from

https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/stefjakobs:/citadel-testing

and guess what, I got the same error as before on the other machine:

bdb(): cursor still in progress on cdb 04: can't begin transaction during r/o cursor

see my post from Feb 19th for the other details.

I did not put any data files on that machine so I guess it must be something different, not related to the database files at all.

Maybe there is some dependency missing that is not listed in the rpm? It was already the same error for citadel 8.24 on openSuSE 42.3

Ok, now I tried the EasyInstall on that second openSuSE 42.3 machine.

It stopped at that point:

But this time I preserved the full log, see the latest attachment

did an online update, icaltimezone problem solved, but now there is the libsieve problem again, see attachedcitadel-install-log3.txt

have you libsieve2 installed?, I can't find libsieve in my official default repository of 42.3

But found here something:

https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=server%3Amail&package=libsieve

(sorry Page is in German)

add the repository and install:

zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:mail/openSUSE_Leap_42.3/server:mail.repo
zypper refresh
zypper install libsieve

Thanks, I had installed libsieve1 from obs://build.opensuse.org/home:stefjakobs/  but thinking about it I installed libsieve1-devel from there, too, which brought me one step further (although libsieve is being compiled by the EasyInstall script anyway)

then I installed libcitadel4-devel from there which brought me even one step further:

(see citadel-install-log5.txt)

It seems to me the EasyInstall script is looking into the wrong path while checking the compiled libraries!

Hello,

Ubuntu 16.04

Citadel 9.01 (installed via apt-get install citadel-suite)

My citadel mail server stopped working. (probably after a server crash). Upon running this command:

service citadel start

I get warnings on endless loop with citadel process id increasing. seems like citadel is trying to run but fails and retries forever.

The warnings I get are like this:

Your database is having an issue.

This link shows someone having a similar issue with a Berkeley DB (not necessarily a Citadel installation), last year.

Are there DB log files in place? Do you have more than one log file, where the database may be looking at an old, invalid log file?

Where should I look for? I didn't touch citadel server for a long time and it was working fine. Some erver crash might have corrupted the files. I don't mind about the lost emails, but I do need to keep my user accounts. It's been more than a week Citadel is not sending one single mail.

If you installed via easy install, the database files (and logs) are in /usr/local/citadel/data.

Keep in mind, of course, that if the citserver process isn't running, because it's having an issue with the database, not only will Citadel not send a single email, it won't receive them or do anything else.

Do you have any backups of your citadel installation from prior to the system crash and beginning of your issue?

Hi

Installed latest citadel with easy install script in centos 7.

I tried creating an event in the calendar in webcit. In the attendees tab I tried adding some users, but to my surprise citadel's user list is empty! Only my user's personal contacts appear.
Still when saving the event the attendees are never saved at all. I tried modifying and saving again and still no luck.

Also the 'check attendee availability' button doesn't work, and I can't delete selected attendees if I make a mistake.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards.

Is there any idea about this by chance?

More than a few people have had trouble with Easy Install lately because of some updated package names in Debian (and possibly other) systems, in the dependencies that have to be installed before Easy Install can run.

I've updated the installation page to reflect the names of the new packages.
ALSO, the Easy Install script will now offer to perform those installations for you, if you're on a Debian-like or RedHat-like system.

Any idea what went wrong with my installation? I already tried to check smtp connection using telnet as stated in this page

All smtp port and connections to gmail mx are working good. Anyway I had a postfix installation before, that I already uninstalled correctly.

Suddenly I can't send mail to anyone on GMail either.   Google must have changed something, because I can send messages to everyone else.

This is because every single person at Google is 100% Hitler Equivalent (tm) and should be "corrected" in the kneecaps with a ball pean hammer until this works again.

In the mean time, I will try to find a workaround.

(I still need to try the thunderbird connectors, hope they still work)

Finally tried the lightning and synckolab connectors with latest Thunderbird, which is 52.7 as of now.

Uff, synckolab installed but did not start. Guess it's true it got outdated, and I tried downloading from both mozilla addons and gargan's websites. A comment from the developer made me think this may be getting abandoned:
https://github.com/corinis/synckolab/issues/8

Do you think current issues with webcit calendar could be fixed eventually?
Or maybe general collaboration functions are slowly being deprecated from Citadel, just like Citadel-Citadel room networking?
