Subject: Contacts not working in 902 and 903

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I have just upgraded from 9.01 to 902. citserver is running without any problems.

Webcit 902 and 903 are  buggy:

  • Contacts list tabulators names are incorrect
  • vcards are not saved after editing
  • new vcards are not created (after saving a vcard webcit jumps to Advanced Options Menu

You can reproduce this bug(s) on http://uncensored.citadel.org!

webcit 9.01 with citserver 902 is running without problems.

Greetings

Rene

Subject: Re: Crash: cursor still in progress on cdb XX

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hallo,

some problem occured during my upgrade from 9.01 to 902.

I changed

static void bailIfCursor(DBC ** cursors, const char *msg)
{
    int i;

    for (i = 0; i < MAXCDB; i++)
        if (cursors[i] != NULL) {
            syslog(LOG_EMERG, "bdb(): cursor still in progress on cdb %02x: %s", i, msg);
            //cdb_abort(); generates error in cdb.02 during upgrade from 9.01 to 902 or 903
        }
}

in citadel/database.c and comiled a temporary citserver.

You should start this temporary citserver only once to cleanup the "open transaction problem" for cdb02. After this cleanup You should use the unchanged citserver (902 or 903).

Subject: POP

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am trying to configure Citadel to pop mail from an aol server. I have gone to the room where I want to the messages to appear and added the aol user/server I want to pop messages from under the retrieval settings.  I don't see any messages popping in the folder I set it up on. Is there any way to fine tune these settings under remote retrieval such as the port used and ssl/no ssl?

Subject: multidomain

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Okay I have problems with the following setup:

I have set up a citadel server on a raspberry pi. (domain names may be altered)

I configured domain name a.net (example) and some users and aliases for xyz@a.net

later I added b.net to the admin->domain names but left a.net as the fqdn

(btw all mx-records are set)

after that things went strange:

When I create a new user "username" it writes username@a.net as its primary adress but it can only recieve mails sent to username@b.net even when I change it's primary adress to whatever@a.net it only recieves mails for the b.net domain...

users created before recieve messages for a.net.

internally an error message saying invalid recipient and when sending using an external service citadel responds with a 550 error code.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Okay, I have tried using b.net as FQDN and this results in the following:

Adressbook entries of new users now user a.net as domain but recieve mails for b.net

it seems like citadel uses the FQDN as domain to assign to new users but internally uses the domain not set as FQDN.

Subject: setup utility trying to connect to something that doesn't exist yet?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Howdy,

Playing around with the current version of citadel, compiled source from scratch, apparently version 903.

Got libcitadel and citadel packages compiled & installed.  When getting to the next setup of running citadel's 'setup' util, it tries to connect to a running citadel server (possibly cart before the horse here?) and bails after a handful of attempts at trying to hit the socket.

It says "Setup could not connect to a running Citadel server.: No such file or directory /home/citadel/citadel-admin.socket"

If there's changes in the setup procedure, the website nor readme files seem to have updated info.

What's the current expectation?

Thanks!

It says "Setup could not connect to a running Citadel server.: No
such file or directory /home/citadel/citadel-admin.socket"

Did you start the Citadel server? You do have to run the "citserver" program before you run setup. The packages and the Easy Install build do that for you, but if you build from source you'll need to start citserver on your own.

You can either put it in your rc.local (something like "citserver -d" to put it in the background) or you can write a systemd service file to have the system start it up for you. Once citserver is running, you can run setup.
Setup needs to talk to a running server.

I hope that helps!

Please install the openssl-dev or openssl-devel package (I don't know what it's called on Arch Linux).

In the past I wasted hours on reading troubleshooting pages and
debugging - today, after 1.5 years I only spend 4 hours for
installation and setting up/testing a working backup system for my
Citadel server.

Very, very glad I did the move. Thanks to all people involved. :)

Thanks for the kind words. We work hard to make Citadel an "out of the box" experience rather than something "sold as a kit"

Howdy!

First, thanks for the response in such a short time frame, appreciated!

Initially I hadn't started the citserver as there doesn't seem to be an indication to do so (aside from the fact that 'setup' fails with it's expectation of it).  I haven't seen a reference to needing to start citserver before setup anywhere - is this something that changed in the past couple of years?  I seem to recall that setup used to expect citserver to be not running in the past.

From the citadel source "README.txt":

3. ./configure && make && make install

4. Run the "setup" program"

In the administration manual (http://citadel.org/doku.php/documentation:system_administration_manual), the implication is compile, install, then:

cd /usr/local/citadel
./setup
And even more fun, it says "“setup” will then shut down the Citadel service if it is found to be running."
At any rate, I grabbed the easyinstall script to find out what exactly it was doing to get a new install going and could see the process in there. Are there bugs that we can file against the documentation?

Subject: FQDN in 220 SMTP response.-

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

In a previous post, IGnatius explain about if you want to rebuilt a server and, if the new server is similar to the old one, you can copy the whole /citadel directory and the new server must be work. That's right, in my case ;-)

OK, I make this but I have an issue looking for correct it. My new server has the name "svr03" and the old one named "svr01". Then, the answer

220 svr01.xxxxxxx.net ESMTP Citadel server ready. [719 ms]

must be svr03.xxxxxxx.net

It seems like Citadel don't take this name asking the server their FQDN. ¿Where can I modify this? Thank you!
