Bobble stitch is easy:

Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch. Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. (two loops left on hook)

Yarn over, insert hook back into stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch. Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook (three loops left on hook)

Yarn over, insert hook back into stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch. Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook (four loops left on hook)

Yarn over, insert hook back into stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch. Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook (five loops left on hook)

Yarn over and pull through all five loops left on hook. Bobble made.

Holy cow!  that's a lot of stitching for one stitch!  LOL

Thanks for the explanation - that was *much* easier to understand!

Thanks, I used to joke about "we should paint the bathroom *this* color..."

An alternate to the bobble, is the popcorn stitch. It's even easier. Make 5 dc in one stitch. After the 5th st is made, drop the loop from your hook, insert the hook into the top of the first dc made, grab the dropped loop and sl st. Popcorn made. It's even more dimensional than the bobble stitch.

I have decided on fleeb's Xmas present this year:

Guess which one of the three... (hint, it's the one on the far upper left) I post this because I KNOW he won't peek. *glare*

well you've got all the nice pastels there. like a sunset. in fact someone should photoshop a sunset on a beach out of a picture of your leg - makes a great greeting card.

oh, i'm sure you guys posted stuff like this tons of times, but my mother has recently started knitting (apparently she used to knit a lot when she was a teenager or something so, she's not a total n00b, but whatever). i have yet to see anything she has knitted, but it all sounds pretty lame. (eg, she very much wanted to knit me a cardigan)

is there a web site with some modern stuff i could point her to? nothing too modern, since she lives in south carolina and hangs around 80 year olds, so perhaps not like the stuff you guys would be into, but something a little less... "where are my teeth?"

thanks.

I've done needle felting before- what she's got there is very impressive...

Needle felting is so much fun- especially if you have a lot of angst to work out. Would be a GREAT craft for my brother. *snicker*

*snort*

I've nearly completed fleeb's most important Xmas present. He will be thrilled to know it is my OWN DESIGN, though it was inspired by something I saw online.

*ebbil grin*

I can't help but read that as 'needle felching' instead of 'needle felting'.
