Ya. But people seem to not realize this for some reason. History provides evidence.

expensive way to do it, though.
In the islamic world, negotiating at all is perceived as weakness.

It depends on the context. Sometimes you are expected to negotiate even when there is one possible outcome and you know it and the other guy knows it, but it is very, very bad form not to pretend you are negotiating.
This applies to marketplaces. Try buying clothes at a street market and tell the merchant "Ok, we both know this is worth X. You know it is worth X, I know it is worth X, so why not just sell it for X to me instead of playing the whole haggle theatre and wasting time?" Tell me what happens to you, I wanna hear it.
I hear things have calmed down for our friends out east. I hope that continues, but i doubt it, the enemy will never change.
"Death to the infidels" is all one needs to know about them.
If history is any indication, when islamists take over a place, they immediately erase its history, artwork, language, anything that does not directly serve the new order. It is ... somewhat brutal.
While i dont agree with doing that, to be fair it sounds like a lot of radical oppressive religions over the centuries.. ( and most governments, especially Communist ones )
