Well that was fun. family get together.
2 hour drive there. Far enough that its into rural. Corn and beans as far as the eye can see.. The occasional house, or farm stuff. Even tree canopy for the roads in a lot of places. Too bad it was too hot to drop the top.
Of course coming back to destruction-concrete-ville pissed me off, but it was nice to be in what the Midwest was, and still should be for a little.
Heading through central Pennsylvania with my son and it's his turn to drive.
Signal is pretty good on the highway. We're heading to Altoona to visit the famous horseshoe curve and watch trains all day. Fun!
I have never had a co-driver on any of my trips. And other than a dog, rarely does anyone ride shotgun either.

We do it all the time. My wife doesn't like to drive but my son does.
And as it turns out, the park built around the famous horseshoe curve is privately owned and closed on mondays and tuesdays. One star! And when you trash them in a review for that reason they tend to respond "our hours are prominently posted on our facebook page."
srsly? YOU HAVE A WEB SITE. POST THE HOURS ON THE WEB SITE.
Fortunately, we still got to see lots of trains at both the Altoona station and the Cresson park. Same line, different vantage point. We probably caught about 20 trains in one day -- 19 freight and 1 Amtrak. It was a delightful trip.
