Just don't be too honest with the people that do not care about you but only about the paper ;)

I'd feel really weird about lying about something like that. If the shop had a legitimate need for someone who had arcane information about the fundamentals of Java or something, I'd be shooting myself in the foot.

I do need to brush up my Java skills, though. Or C#. Just to make any transition go a little smoother.

Hrm.

Yeah.

Lie as minimally as possible, but lie.

There are two possible scenarios: Either they know what they want and find out you are not the guy they need in an interview or they do not know what they want but just request a high skill set to get the "best possible guy". In that case, your chances to pass an interview might be good.

Do not underestimate your experience and flexibility!

Oh, and I just found this in the LXer room:

I guess both is only worth half of it, if theres not js/css/html to cover the client side.

oh, and many of the ruby whatever people nowadays tumble towards nodejs - its faster - but event driven programming doesn't seem easy regardless of the language you use...

Heh... I should thrive at event driven programming, regardless of the language.
Much of what I have done in the last several years involved event driven programming.

I do know JavaScript/CSS/HTML pretty well. It's one of those skills I sometimes kind of forget about because they seem, well, so simple. Ought to throw in DOM, jQuery, and some other spicy meatballs while we're playing in that field.

There is more complexity added in keeping things secure, though.

Hm... I just learned something interesting.

As a veteran, I have a sigificant advantage for a lot of the jobs in this area. I just need to find some paperwork that I haven't seen in over a decade.
If I can find that, I'll have a sigificant advantage over non-veterans.

An interview with an recruiter today, for something for which I am a perfect fit (except they don't want as much as I'd prefer).

Tomorrow, another interview with a recruiter, but this one is for the actual company hiring, so we'll see how that goes.

Maybe it would make sense to work closer to your actual boss. Perhaps it's time for you to move to another building.

That would involve relocating to Massachussetts.

That would involve relocating to Massachussetts.

...which just might get you a 10 to 20 percent overall reduction in the taxes you pay.
