If you're using it for medical equipment - distilled water is perfect. If you're using it for aquarium, you want reverse osmosis filtration.

If you're 95% of the world, you'll drink distilled water and go, "This tastes funky," it is like alcohol free beer, caffeine-free, zero calorie soda... you might CONVINCE yourself it is good, you might ACQUIRE a taste for it.

But regular people will tell you it tastes wrong. They want the taste of the "additives" that are naturally in water in their water.

Fresh and filtered water both have naturally occurring additives. Only distilled water needs things added back into it to taste natural.

Cuz water without impurities tastes bad - but some impurities taste better than others.

If you say so.  I will take fresh, filtered or distilled water (nothing added) any day.

If you are adding stuff back into it, it defeats the distilling process.
If you want pure water for medical equipment, or for your baby, use distilled water.
If you want mineral water, drink mineral water.

Reference that IGnat will get:
Clive and the rest of the world: "hmmm, not bad."
Ralphie and ParanoidDelusions: ACK!  barf!

When I read "distilled to remove impurities, and then impurities added back in" I actually did think it was going to be a link to one of Big Clive's distillation experiments.

I do understand the basic WTF-ery with distilling water to remove things from it then adding things back into it to restore the "natural" taste.

It is kind of like the people who "Won't eat McDonalds because it is factory produced mystery meat," but they will eat a soyburger or an Impossible Burger - without the irony of realizing their vat-grown meat substitute is far less natural than anything the Clown cooks up.

If you care enough about impurities to drink distilled water - you would think that you would turn your nose up at distilled water with additives.

The only reason I can see to it is that people believe that something introduced by man is more carefully controlled than, you know, water naturally filtering down the creeks and rivers from the Rockies.

"It is the same end result, but without bears (and campers) shitting in the water along the way... Well... bears probably shit in the water at some point, but we removed EVERYTHING, then added in all the good things, without the fish piss and bear shit."

Pretty certain people have been drinking unfiltered un-distilled water for 10s of thousands of years, and seem to have survived in spite of the bear, and fish byproducts,  (or perhaps because of them.)

Sure, lately we started boiling,  and then filtering, but before that...

I grew up on unfiltered well water out in the country ( Midwest US ) . It didnt kill me, however i cant stand drinking city water or any other water without some 'meat' to it.  ( showering, sure, its nicer not to have all that iron and other stuff.. and easier on pipes, but drinking, no thanks )

I have to add something to it or i want to gag.
