I don't know if there is a good moving company. I have seen the driver just sit in the truck before, but he was
the owner and he was in his 70s.

The worst moving company? My sister was moving to Atlanta, alone. The company emptied the truck in front of
her apartment, apparently they were not being paid to bring the stuff into the apartment. They also damaged some
of the "antique" furniture that my sister got when my grandmother died.

Better yet, here's a link to my review of them on Yelp (my post above is actually just a copy of that)

Damn, Iggy!

Though....really, what did you expect from a firm that operates out of Jersey with the moniker "Family run"?  ;-)

Ok wiseass, go find me a moving company. I need two guys, no truck required, to move furniture out of the garage and into the rest of the house. Bonus points for local and cheap.

Hmmmmm....

Back when I was teaching high school Physics, you'd be surprised how much 'stuff' I could get done by simply uttering:

Who wants some extra credit?

Yeesh. $1,000 for moving half a dozen pieces of furniture up a single set of stairs.

No thanks.

I just got a call from Shitty Moving And Storage. They stumbled upon my Yelp review.

They want me to send a letter detailing the damage and delays, for which they want to refund *half* the cost of *one* of their guys -- a whopping $262 out of the $3,150 I paid them.

I told him we'd write the letter but $262 isn't going to get the review taken down.

1000 is more than I would've expected from them. Sorry IG. They did a good job for me in the past.

never fly in an aeroplane.

not because of safety. no, no. because there are so many "robotic processes" modifying your PNR (Passenger Name Record) that nobody really knows what's going on anymore.

There are human-readable remarks in there that are intended to warn and prevent human agents from doing bad things to your reservation. All ignored by the robots.

Unless they aren't. In the future, the robots are going to be talking to each other via loosely formatted remark strings that emulate things that were previously, typically, entered by humans.

My suspicion is that this has already started to happen, but I have no way of knowing for sure.

But if so, it's all Travelocity's fault.

In one of these rooms we had a rant about washer/dryers Sears and what not. A year and a half ago my sister
purchased a Kenmore washer and dryer from Sears, she did not get the extended warranty. In November her dryer
stopped working, she got the run around from Sears and she went with another repair person. It cost her $200
and she had to wait a few days for the part to arrive. Last week the dryer stopped working again, the
repair person said it would cost $300 to repair. The two repairs together would be the price of a new dryer.
She tried calling Sears, got the run around. Was told she had a supervisor, she was told she had his direct
number, she was told she could call back and possibly have the dryer replaced. When she called back she found
out none of the above were true and she had to repeat the entire story to the new person who said he could not
do anything for her,
but she could go to the store and talk to a manager. My sister has been out of work
because of sickness and the holidays. She has no time to go to the store. She has decided like a lot of
people, not to do business with Sears again.
