I want bad people to improve themselves and become better people.
As a side note I still have not added "Obama" to my spell checker because every time I use the word I want to be
reminded that it is wrong.
I still feel Bush == Obama. They are both terrible presidents, but in different (yet oddly similar) ways.
Neither were leaders. Both were followers masquerading as leaders.

I fall in and out of that trap lately. I appreciate the enlightenment. It does not change my mind, but it does change my opinions of others. Good insight there. I was most recently finding myself in the model P situation while teaching confirmation classes this week. I even did the old throw a flash-bang comment in to see what happened to the conversation, but it was rebutted quickly and dismissed.
I am having trouble finding a religion that I can grow from, but that ... is a subject for another room.
Double shiiiiiiiiiiip, for me not seeing the ESR in the url. I did not realize ibiblio.org existed. I feel so iDumb.
But then, I haven't really liked any of the presidents, have I? It's kind of unfair for me to comment much, I suppose. Unfair in the sense that all of them have to weigh against differing decisions and make a choice that will ultimately screw someone over, and head the country in some screwy direction that will require correction.
The point is that it doesn't matter. Bush isn't in office. Neither is Clinton, Reagan, Hoover, Eisenhower, Roosevelt, Lincoln, etc. etc. etc.
I expect the "Blame Bush" rhetoric from a yeasty cunt like Nancy Pelosi.
I don't expect it from someone as smart and honest as you.
George W was an incompetent buffoon. But I never doubted for a minute that he loved his country and genuinely wanted to do the right thing. I might even say the same thing about Bill (but not Hitlery) Clinton. This is far more than one can say about Barack Hitler Hussein Hitler Obama, who overtly hates America and is actively working to destroy it. Not only is he a communist and a terrorist and an illegal immigrant, but he's also a bona fide sociopath.
Why are messages that I post in the Politica> room at Cascade not all making it into this room?
I certainly do not for an instant think *you* are deleting them, but I cannot say the same of some folk that may have <A>ide privs.
Well, I did say they were terrible in different, yet oddly similar, ways.
Primarily, I think neither of them are very good leaders in general. They rely entirely too much on other people to tell them what to do. Neither of them had a particularly great amount of experience before taking on the presidency, and I think our country has suffered as a consequence.
I won't speculate as to whether one guy or the other loved the country more or less... everyone has their own ideas of what makes a country great, weak, or whatever, and not everyone will agree with those ideas.
I think both Republicans and Democrats, in general, seek to do things with this country that run counter to what made this country particularly wonderful and amazing, so I don't really like either of them. Republicans would have us all owned by corporations and religions. They seek to concentrate power to a very few, which as a general concept I despise. Democrats would have us all give everything we've worked for to people who have no idea what to do with it, without providing any training or assistance in the matter. They strike me as a kind of Robin Hood without any sense of responsibility or true, honest concern for the people they're supposedly helping.
On the plus side, Republicans generally try to maintain fiscally sound policies.
Or at least pay lip service to it, even though I feel Reagan helped teach them how to spend irresponsibly. And Democrats do manage to correct certain civil rights issues that I feel we should correct if we want to truly be a fair and free country.
But, left to their own devices, an extreme Republican will turn us into a fascist state (except owned by corporations instead of the state), and the Democrats will turn us into a socialist state, even though we already have proof that doesn't work.
Er, and where did I blame Bush for anything? I just said he was a terrible president.
I mean, I feel comfortable assigning blame to him for certain things he certainly did that I feel wasn't particularly bright, but Obama has done his own set of stupid things I don't like.
Again, it's a kafkatrap and deserves to be immediately and fully dismissed whenever and wherever it is encountered.
The population of this planet is over seven billion. Nearly six billion of us are humans. Reading racial bias into places where it does not exist is just as bad as actually exhibiting racial bias. But the libs need to keep racism alive because [race|class|gender|etc] envy is a play straight out of the Marxist handbook.
I can't believe we still have to cover this in 2014. Fact: Obama is a socialist piece of shit. Fact: Obama is black. Fact: the previous two facts HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.
Personally, I think black is the best thing about Obama.
I mean, if he were actually representative of any American black community. Being that he's Kenyan (not referring to place of birth because that's a whole other kettle of fish - referring to the fact that his African roots are from Kenyan Muslims and not from African Americans who have lived in the US for any length of time) and doesn't in any way share the standard African American experience... it's not really a vote for him.
He didn't grow up in the US, he took the highest office in the US with very little experience. He does not value the US constitution. He kowtows to Muslim countries while shunning America's allies.
He totally wussed out on the Ukraine issue, made a mockery of America. The list goes on and on...
He's done cocaine. He still smokes.
His color is about the only thing I don't think is wrong with him.

To what, specifically, do you refer when you say "because of the racist shit in the news"?

Subject: Obama says Keystone pipeline mostly helps Canadian oil companies,
President Obama on Friday downplayed the potential benefits of the
Keystone pipeline, claiming it would not lower gas prices for
Americans but instead boost Canadian oil companies.
...which just goes toward proving that Obama has nary a clue on how markets work.
1. Keystone Pipeline boosts sales of Canadian oil (true).
2. #1 means more supply on the world market
Now it really is simple to understand.
More oil on the market means lower prices for oil.
Lower prices for oil results in lowering the price for gasoline about a month later.
Basic economics in play here.
I guess he didn't learn this in that Ivy League university.

There's more at play here than basic economics. He probably knows that lower oil prices are good for the market in general, but he doesn't care about that.
He cares about:
1. Lower prices of conventional energy make the substantially higher cost of non-scalable wind and solar energy unattractive. One of the eco-terrorist-left's goals is to artifically raise the prices of conventional energy so that their pet projects look reasonable when compared.
2. Lower global oil prices, and higher production of North American oil resources, both mean less money flowing into the coffers of oil-producing nations who use the money to fund terrorism. As a card-carrying Jihadi, there's no way Obama wants that.
The answer: DRILL BABY DRILL! As always, Sarah Palin is smarter than ALL liberals.
