On the contrary, we should be hating our own government for giving him these talking point and offering no equally level-headed retort. If Putin can present these greivances reasonably and they cannot be refuted, then our government are the bad guys.

Yeah, I think it is good to try and be cordial with everybody, but not at any cost :P
Specially when you consider Putin does not endorse the Lenin or Stalin way of managing the country, so it comes as a bit of a weird thing that he would endorse China in general.
I suspect Putin only endorses Palestine because it makes the West a little more unstable.

Yes. One of the things i feel our founders dropped the ball on. They were so anti-politics themselves, they saw serving as a hardship, and never dreamed people would make a life long career out of it.
Myself id suggest we shorten terms slightly. Then you get 2 consecutive at most. Then you have to sit out one. If you were THAT good, the people will put you back in office, and should have the option. If you were not, then they wont.
We also need mandatory testing every 6 months for every elected official. Mental ability, physical ( only to the extent of not being able to do their job.. i dont care if you cant walk or something as a senator.. but if you cant articulate.. or if you are at risk of dying in a month.. ), and of course drug tests.
