i thought about it a couple of times but

  • Franchises suck. My dad had one ( not food related ), its what ruined it. They control so much of the business you often cant do what is needed, and they WILL get their fee, even if you are tanking and need a break.
  • Food is hard.  Competition is terrible. most new places dont make it. Even more so when its 'yet another burgerdoodle chain store'

So in my case: buy a fast food franchise. Got it.

Can someone please explain the mechanics of the current battle for speaker of the house. I don't understand how it works.

The good guys are, in a quite noble fashion, resisting the appointment of Kevin McRINO (D-CCP) as speaker. What I don't understand is, if the demoKKKrats have more votes for their commie than either RINO or MAGA have, why doesn't the commie simply win the vote? Why are they allowed to just have more and more votes?

I assume that someone must receive over 50% of all votes to be declared winner. It is scary to think, though, that only a few RINOs could defect and we end up with a democrat speaker in a republican majority house.

Not that its an answer, but does anything in DC make sense to the rest of us? Other than its a scam of course.   the rules say majority vote. so i donno either.

Personally id like to see a non-legislature elected to the seat.  Non partisan, non politician.  I know it does not work that way, but having an outside controller could do wonders for things.

"majority of votes cast"  So i guess in theory it could be less than 50% if there are more than 2 people running? or is this migraine effecting my thinking ( its likely )

To me, "majority" means >50%. The largest of three but less than half is called a plurality.

At least, this is how I understand these terms in the context of statistics. Who knows what it means legally. But given that McCarthy isn't speaker yet, I think it's safe to assume that they are using similar definitions.

I just heard another scary thing. I think that if enough Democrats vote present they can sabotage and put McCarthy over 50%.

Apparently that is it, to win the speaker seat, a candidate must have >50% of the votes, as opposed to simply having more votes than any other candidate.
And I think you are correct about "present" votes being removed from the counting process.

The patriotic dissenters who do not want M-CCP-arthy to have the seat are brave and I applaud them playing hardball. M-CCP-arthy is only barely more tolerable than the dems guy, who is literally an islamic terrorist.

I made the mistake of clicking a twitter link about the dissenters to see what the sentiment was in the replies. I'm genuinely shocked at what I saw. Most people are angry about it. Calling those people sabateurs, insurrectionists, etc. Either most of Twitter is made up of deep state bots trying to influence public opinion, or Americans have completely lost any will to fight for freedom and we are already an enslaved culture, cowering in fear at the idea of not having a singularly unified daddy government hovering over us.

That is intentional. The ruling class need to keep the people ignorant, because if enough people take the red pill, the ruling class will get ejected faster than you can say "guillotine". They've done a good job so far, but the emancipation of Twitter is a *big* crack in the dam.

The ruling class barely took over Big Tech in time to keep the subterfuge going while the masses transitioned from television to the Internet. But now they need to resort to increasingly desperate tactics to keep everyone on the plantation -- tactics like censoring dissent by pretending that it is "misinformation", or having their apparatchiks label those who break ranks as "domestic terrorists", and of course the tired old hack of labeling everyone and everything as racist.

The only reason they haven't been violently removed from power already is because the bread and circuses (starbucks and iphones) continue to flow.

I think only the deeply clueless ever thought he wouldn't be elected. I saw commenters harping "oh oh he's already lost 11 votes, why won't he take the message??" Yeah, and he lost each one by about 1%, and second place (not counting Jeffries) lost by 99%. The only reason this was able to happen was because Republicans hold such a slim majority, there is no margin for non compliance.

The key is what did the "terrorists" (which is apparently the new synonym for patriot) get him to concede? I heard one is that it only takes one member to initiate a vote to oust him, which is obviously good. I haven't seen a comprehensive list of what other concessions were made yet.

Yes, supposedly he had to make a bunch of concessions, including allowing them to initiate a "vote of no confidence" if he gets out of line. Although I would have rather seen a dyed-in-the-wool MAGA in the speaker's seat, my gut feeling about this is that it took some real negotiation; the fix was NOT in ahead of time.

What surprised me the most was that mKKKarthy publicly thanked Mr. Trump for his support and credited him for helping him win.

Meanwhile, on the overtly evil communist side, this Hakeem Jeffries dude is starting to look a bit concerning. It seems as if the media/demokrat complex is grooming him to be the next Obama. Like Obama and Hitler, he speaks well despite being 100% evil. Oh well, at least he was born in the United States, unlike his brothers Obama and Hitler.
