If I hadn't already left the catholic church 20+ years ago, this would
have pushed me over the edge.

This idiot isn't worthy of being the leader of *any* church. He's
supposed to be a disciple of Jesus, not a disciple of Al Gore. And
he's got no business being a cheerleader for communist Cuba either.
The Pope's words only carry Ultimate Authority when he speaks 'ex cathedra' which this nonsense certainly was *not*.
Catholics depend on the Pope to lead in matters of Faith and Morals.
Not Science.
I find it amusing that the See of Peter, so long infamous for its rejecting (or just plain ignoring) the advances of Natural Philosophy (Science, or 'Naturwissenschaft' if you will) now decides to wade into every conceivable issue that even tangentially touches Science.
Most curious was Pope Benedict's statement some years back that intelligent life on other planets would not contradict Christian Theology (which is correct, by the way - only simple minded fundamentalists take Genesis as literal truth).
But at least Pope Frank is being "Catholic Church Consistent."
Galileo was viewed as a heretic for roughly half a millenium.
Darwin the same for about 75 years.
Global Warming, known to all scientists as pure bullshit, is now the Love Child of the Roman See.
So... in matters of science, Pope Frank has a very strong Papal heritage behind him. BEING WRONG.
currently many of the priests originate from the philipines and india - since the number of priests from other countries is declining, and these countries take other positions than the US, in this case their oppinion will win.
The complicated thing about Being Pope is that you aren't just the head of a church, you're also the head of a country. So, yeah, you have this weird distinction between dictating church policy vs. dictation state policy.

The exact same thing can be said about the British Monarch who is also the head of the Church of England.
To all who truly care about the environment, happy Earth Day to you.
To all who think that believing in anthropogenic global warming constitutes caring about the environment, please die in a car fire.
Oh, and without question, today's Hypocrite Award goes to Bill Nye, the PseudoScience Guy:
"Heading down to DC to catch an #EarthDay flight on Air Force One tomorrow with the President. We're going to #ActOnClimate."
Seriously? You're battling the "climate change" bogeyman by flying around on a 747 carrying two passengers?

else it would be carying one. ;-P
And that's fine; we expect the President, or the Kenyan-born ISIS member currently occupying the office of the President, to fly around on Air Force One.
What's over-the-top ridiculous is that Bill Nye is such a disgusting hypocrite that he brags about flying around on a 747 in the same sentence as claiming to be "acting on climate."
Meanwhile, all of the computer models were wrong; the global warming they all forecasted didn't happen, and the Climate Scientologists (my new favorite sobriquet) are redoubling their efforts to smear anyone who dares challenge their unscientific dogma.
Even the most sparsely boarded commercial flight carries much more than that.
And of course on a commercial flight, two pieces of shit would be in the toilet, not the cabin.
The NONSENSE part is claiming that human activity can influence it, one way or the other.
Food for thought:
In June 2008, ABC's "Good Morning America" boldly declared that by 2015 the following would have happened because of global warming:
* New York City will be underwater
* A gallon of milk will cost $12.99
* A gallon of gasoline will cost $9
I know the same folks who push global warming tried as hard as they could to make that last one happen, but it turns out none of them happened.

Oh boy.

The worst person in the world, after making billions of dollars abusing capitalism, ruining other people's lives and businesses, and generally abusing the universe for his own benefit, now is saying that capitalism cannot save the world and we need massive carbon taxes.
May I just reiterate one more time, that my dearest heartfelt desire is for Bill Gates to have the most agonizingly long and painful death imaginable.
As is the case with all robber barons throughout history, Bill Hitler Gates wants to be remembered as a philanthropist rather than as the even-worse-than-Hitler he really is. Since he's a socialist communist freedom-hating scumbag, global warming is something he's interested in messing with.
I hope he falls into a hole in the ice in the Antarctic and simultaneously drowns and freezes to death, with several subsequent episodes of coming briefly back to life as they hit him with the paddles, ultimately having heart failure from being zapped too many times.
And even that would be lenient compared to the pain he's inflicted on the universe.
