But, my computer worked before you worked on it yesterday.

I finally got around to installing Waze yesterday.  Seems pretty slick.  Looks like it's got enough bling to distract a lot of people from their primary task of driving safely.

And I realized that what we really need is a navigator app that turns the trip into an augmented-reality version of Mario Party.

So Waze is like Gas Buddy but for traffic conditions?

(I know you don't like the people that run Gas Buddy)

Remind me again why I don't like Gas Buddy?  (I'm sure I had a good reason)

You thought the people that started it were communists for one reason or another.

Once you stop playing with it, WAZE is pretty safely usable while driving.

Back when I worked out of my car, I purchased a GPS app that has been sadly discontinued. Had all the features of Waze, Google, and others in a single package, was easy to use, and the directions were very good. All the free apps that collect your data to resell it drove them out of the market. Feh.

But this applies to so many things IG dislikes ;)

I was wrong, Gas Buddy are Nazi not communist.  It is so hard to remember which is which and who is who.

That was odd, for some reason this posted to Godwin's lounge and I was sure I was in the mobile madness room.

At the moment I'm trying to figure out what's been killing my battery.  I uninstalled WAZE and a few other things.  It's possible that the battery is just dying on its own.

How many times did you reboot it? You need to reboot it three times. [ http://www.thewebsiteisdown.com/ ]

Oh joy!

I live in a bit of a valley (as was evident when I had to fight with the government to be excluded from flood insurance) so the cell signal isn't very good here, on pretty much any carrier. A lot of the time we (and any visitors) have to set phones down on windowsills in order to be able to get any bars at all.

So I called T-Mobile when I discovered that I was eligible for a signal booster, but they're doing one better and sending me a femtocell. I didn't know they had them, but evidently this is a new development (released less than a year ago). The nice thing is that since I'm a long time customer in good standing, they're sending it to me for free. This is awesome.

This would be nice for someone who has a metal roof as well.  Is it open, meaning can your neighbors suck your bandwidth?

I don't know the details, as I haven't received it yet so I don't know what kind of configuration options it has. Most femtocells allow any phone on the carrier's network to connect. I suppose if I cared about that I would have asked for the signal booster instead. My property is so large that there's really only one neighbor in range anyway, and they're cool.

To get back to mobile questions, Mr. Foobar, in some other room you mentioned you want to get a new phone.  Why not wait for the newest Google and/or Nexus phones coming out later this year?
