Think you got it good ?? I think you wires are crooked
well that don't give you a licence to be stupid
you've gotta move your lip 'cos silence is a hassle
but anyone can talk, anyone can be an asshole

meet the conversation king, well you can say just anything

a-a-a-a

CHORUS:

shut your fucking mouth, and use your fucking brain
shut your fucking mouth, and use your fucking brain

gotta keep on talking keep on moving like a dream
Tell me work that mouth and you can get into a team
Times I gotta talk and make you gone I weent insane

shut your fucking mouth, and use your fucking brain

There may be trouble ahead
But while there's moonlight
And music and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Before the fiddlers have fled
Before they ask us to pay the bill
And while we still have the chance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon, we'll be without the moon
Humming a different tune and then
There may be tear drops to shed
So while there's moonlight
And music and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon, we'll be without the moon
Humming a different tune and then
There may be tear drops to shed
So while there's moonlight
And music and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Let's face the music and dance

Where the hell was Biggles when you needed him last Saturday?
And where were all the sportsmen who always pulled you through?
They're all resting down in Cornwall writing up their memoirs
for a paperback edition of the Boy Scout manual.

Gonna rise up singin' !
It's a brand new day!
I see the sun is a-shinin'
and the rain isn't fallin'
like it was just yesterday -
So I feel like livin' !
Got a reason to say -
Gonna rise up singin'
throw my troubles away
'cause it's a brand new day!

-- Don Besig, 1977

(evidently, sung by every fifth grade chorus in America for the last 40 years.)

(I may have to write a profane version and post it in the Good Morning room.)

Now throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
And if you're not a square from Delaware
And you got on clean underwear
And your momma ain't on welfare Somebody say 'oh, yeah' (oh, yeah)
Oh, yeah! (oh, yeah)

...rap was actually kind of fun in the 1980's

Where did you go when you were needed?
Was it some place I know where they care?
Rise in the rain
I learned to get by without you for the pain in my heart

I'll be the one, we'll be together
I'll be the one, forever and ever

Look at me now, am I the loser?
If you can't tell me how, tell me why
But just the same
I learned to get by without you for the pain in my heart

I'll be the one, we'll be together
I'll be the one, forever and ever

[repeat with oo's, and a few aaah's]

I am enamored of the first two lines.

"Was it some place I know where they care?"

Brilliant.

I’m a cyber-terrorist -
Just how cool is that!?
I’m gonna take on the World Bank
And knock the bastard flat.
The broadband is my minefield!
The command prompt my gun!
The fact is I’m a dickwad,
And so very young.

Rebellion’s not been tried before,
Not that I’m aware:
We’re the first in history!
If not, I wasn’t there.
There was some sort of thing in France -
My teacher once did speak -
It can’t have ever come to much,
And I skipped school that week.

No-one’s ever thought before
The thoughts inside my head
Before us cyber-terror-kids
No-one sliced their bread!

There's somethin' happenin' here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
A-tellin' me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
And nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speakin' their minds
A-gettin' so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
What a field day for the heat (ooh-ooh-ooh)
A thousand people in the street (ooh-ooh-ooh)
Singin' songs and a-carryin' signs (ooh-ooh-ooh)
Mostly say "Hooray for our side" (ooh-ooh-ooh)
It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line
The man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down (we better)
Stop, now, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down (we better)
Stop, children, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down

Modern left: "We didn't start the fire!"

I remember this song getting a surprising bit of play, at the local nightclubs, the month I spent in Pune, India. Pune is known for its IT consultancy firms.

The song has something of a "revolution is brewing" feel to it, and in that context... know what I mean?

BTW, it's important to understand that India is effectively an English-speaking country, in a sense. If you're a member of the professional class, you speak English, and it's the language of government. Other than that, there are a lot of "local languages"; even Hindi is a local language. The politics, however, have this undertone of an endless tug-of-war between pro-Western and more nationalist factions. I'm hella glad I spent a whole month there, as it was very educational, but I'm in no hurry to go back.
