Grrrrrr i hit post by accident. I wasn't done..  meant  to hit bullets  ( feel free to delete the above )

Where i live my main concerns:

  • Traffic.  Will be grid lock for hours.
  • Trash. People are pigs.
  • Parking.. Going to put out a rope in my yard to keep people out.
  • Resources. people will be buying up gas/food/etc in a much larger amount than we are used to.  Take a day or 2 to recover

As far as bad actors, there will of course be some opportunistic grabs if you leave stuff visible. Extra shop lifting. Same we have now, just a bit higher.

Mass-action scale stuff, wont be around here. If that happens it will be big cities.

Eclipse cancelled.

I dint read the entire story, something about the Biden admin not thinking us serfs were worthy and that it might hurt his economic plans.  Buttigieg is locking down interstates or something.

"what do you do if you are caught driving in the eclipse"

Umm turn on my headlights like i would do anytime its dark?

"what does your dog think about this once in a life time event"

well, couple of days ago it got dark and rained.. so i bet she expects rain... if she even notices.

Back from our trip to the Buffalo/Niagara area. We stayed a couple of days and made a multi family trip out of it. My house was vacant in case anyone wants to rob us several days ago. (If you have a time machine let me know, I have other applications for that.)

We visited a theme park called "Canada" where they have a better view of Niagara Falls as well as pretend money where their dollars are only worth $0.76 of real money. They also have the same 120 volt AC power as the US, but they're metric volts so they are probably not compatible.

On monday we set out a few blankets at a local park to enjoy the eclipse with other people nearby but not a big crowd, which is definitely the way to go. Cloud cover kept us from seeing the full eclipse, but we still got to experience four minute of night time in the middle of the day.

And I am now certain that every Starbucks in the world should be demolished and replaced with a Tim Horton's.

These days id be more concerned about squatters.  You go to jail when you try to kick them out.

I took out the trash during the eclipse. Does that count?

No competing enterprise has anything even close to TimBits. I will gladly send money to our northern friends in exchange for boxes of TimBits.
Fuck Starbucks. Fuck Dunkin Donuts. And especially fuck Dunkin without the donuts, like IHOP without the word Pancakes. Heresy.

Krispy Kreme is superior to Dunkin' Donuts.

But, not fond of KK either...

I love Krispy Kreme. I guess it's a good thing my tiny town doesn't have one; I'd be as fat as Khris Kristie.

My main issue with them is they are just little repetitive clones of each other. And while the machine was neat the one time i visited one of their stores ( long gone now ), I prefer hand made to actually eat.

BUT more importantly, its yeast. For me, its cake or i'm not interested.

"14 year old kid  beaten and stabbed to death protecting his gf"   He should be all over the news, hes a hero.   Thankfully his killers were caught, i just hope they dont get the typical revolving door, and instead go to prison and are beaten to death themselves.

I doubt his GF will ever recover.

Ok, so I think it goes like this:

Tim Horton's > Krispy Kreme > McDonald's (McCafe coffee) > Dunkin Donuts > everything else > Starbucks

I thought you could get to clear-net IRC via TOR.  I could easily be

That is technically possible, but most big IRC networks have exit nodes blacklisted.

Some will allow you to connect via Tor and lift the blacklist restriction for you if your user is pre-authenticated, which destroyes your anonymity because you had to hand them your data in the first place.

Does it link up to the open-net irc network? or is it isolated ?

The network itself is isolated.

They used to operate relay bots for certain strategic channels, so conversations in certain channels would be replicated to Freenode back in the day. I don't think those bots remain. Certainly, I haven't seen them used.

That is too bad. I could see a value in being able to get to clearnet servers via the darknet server.

Back to the idea that more people will be on clearnet out of practicality and some you may want to converse with, but still want/need to hide.

Yes, it would be convenient to use the clearnet from i2p, but let's face it, one of i2p's strengths is it does not interact with the clearnet and therefore flies under the radar.

Lots of admins are pissed at Tor because so much bad traffic comes from Tor exit nodes. I know nobody who is angry at i2p, though.

What you do is you find a free shell service that you can reach with Tor and use that to connect and register and setup your SASL key.

I wonder when all this stuff is outlawed.

I know stopping it is harder, but they can shut down any mention of it on the clear net and prevent 'the masses' from ever knowing about it.  And if you get caught using any of it its considered instant guilt. Wont matter what you are using it for, just having it installed would be enough. so easy to prosecute.
