🙁  found an injured wren out side today. I thought it might have fallen off the food tray or something. Trying to mow grass and it just sat there blinking at me..

Oddly it let me pick it up.. put it in a cat carrier for the day in the kitchen, water/feed. Petted it every so often, which wild birds never let you do.  it didn't make it, died this evening 🙁

Wife said she saw some blood under its wing. Even tho there is plenty of food, they still fight sometimes out there over it, i guess he lost.

I know its just a wren, out of 10000s out there, but still sad.  Normal people would not even have looked at it twice.

People who love animals are simply better people overall. Your brief friend probably died of internal injuries, but at least was comfortable and loved for a little while. Certainly fared better than the dead bird that appeared on my back porch as a gift from one of the cats last night.

Came home this afternoon to find 4 of them on my roof fighting over a piece of bread.

How they didnt burst into flames i dont know. Heat index is something like 110.

Here in Uncensoredland it is unseasonably cold. We had 65(F) temps today.
Leaves are falling from the trees. The "weather is not climate" people are chanting. I just finished building a pool deck and it's too cold to go swimming.
I am making lasagna for dinner as an excuse to turn the oven on.

(I make the second best lasagna in the world -- my mother's is the first -- but this is just a frozen one.)

I chose to heat some frozen pizza rolls in the microwave..  instead of cooking real dinner in the oven.

Index is now below 100. .  98.    At 7pm.. :(

When I don't want to heat up the kitchen I use the grill out on the deck :)

It's been a surprisingly mild summer for the most part, but the last few days have been pretty muggy. Had a little relief during the brief rain, during which I would have happily set up mosquito netting and an awning tent and camped outside.

It was even too hot to even deal with that. You walk out the door and you want to die. I have been known to take the toaster oven out back on warm days.

So on slow days when im in the office, sometimes ill walk down the street to the convention center to hang out and work. Between events its dead quiet, they have decent AC, free wifi..  and im close to the office if i need to run back in person.

Today was sitting there and 2 women ( i think... not sure about one.. but dont matter in this story ) dressed up as Japanese maids, pink dress, hair, high heel boots, with a clear backpack full of toys..  and stuffed animals hanging off it wandered by.  "well, that isn't expected and sort of odd"   then a guy dressed as a bug with a googly eye mask and a cape..   and a goth girl with bat wings.. A woman in medieval gear swinging a plastic axe.. Then bunches more in various costumes.

Ok. what is up as this isn't even a consistent theme?  GenCon and ComicCon were long gone, and they weren't Furies....    Something called   "PopCon" i guess ... whatever the hell that is, New to me.

You'd say helping a single animal makes no difference, but it does make a difference to the animal you are helping.

I am proud of you.

Yeah, hopefully the last one. After restoring this morning's backup I installed new code that has been MUCH more reliable on the two dev systems.

This is a small and probably irrelevant announcement, unless you are the owner of one of the following (now deleted) accounts here on Uncensored:

giovanni, hdt, ignatius_z_foolbear, knocks, stonedmind

Each of these accounts had extremely guessable passwords, and at some point each of them was obtained by the Qakbot network. Although none of these accounts had the access level required to send email to the Internet, I had noticed suspicious activity and changed their passwords. This morning, my hosting provider sent me a security advisory naming these accounts and confirming my suspicion, and so the accounts have been deleted.

If you were the owner of one of those accounts, please go ahead and create a new one, but use a better password this time.

For everyone else, if you want to discuss the relative merits of Qaknet vs. the Gestapo, please do so in the Security room.

Must be in a mood today.

Attended a 'seminar' a couple of weeks ago on what as supposed to be a discussion using a particular tool to help meet customers needs, bla bla. Didn't expect a lot, but I was hoping to see some things they created in the system, some screens, queries, etc.. even at a super high level would be nice since i'm still learning. Be nice to see real-world examples.  Turns out it was 2 guys blabbing on for 45 minutes about how important it is to listen to your customers..   really? No freaking kidding you listen to your customers and their needs.

Today, got an email from the company asking for feedback. Normally i ignore it as spam, but bad timing on their part, today they got it :)
