Well, I don't think I'm THAT good - but if your eyes are rolling back in your head - I guess I must be doing something right...

30 years later and Beetlejuice is still the ghost with the most

For some reason "Lobby" is the last room that shows up on my list.  It goes from the Welcome screen on to whatever room has new messages.

It helps to know all your messages are sarcasm, it will save on eye rolling.

I guess that's because my age leads to my thinking "I'm  not sure if I said (insert phrase) or not, so I'll  say it again, just in case"

I intend to make it a habit, that nothing I own cannot be "put away"

I hope that while it may not be possible to realise this intention, it may make me tidier.

Fire would fix the problem of too much stuff.

I was thinking that maybe the problem was that you say it, but then you forget to follow through on it, and then when you come back - you are reminded of the sentiment. ;)

It depends on what you classify as being "put away".

Things that you need to use consistently - like a television or a refrigerator, cannot be put away. They are intended to be left out.

Now, having a place for everything and everything in its place - that is another matter.

I kind of meant a place for everything....

Also, I don't have much use for a television

I've got a place for everything. Getting everything in its place is the challenge, and it never wants to stay there.

Sometimes, for example, my keys end up in my refrigerator - which is absolutely not the right place for them.

I also don't have much use for a television - but I've got 4 of 'em in the house.

A lot of times for me, 'its place' may just be a box. but each box has a purpose.

And label makers, are a essential part of my life.

I've gotten better at this...

But I am the type that can have *piles* approaching hoarding-level proportions and go, "The ethernet-to-wireless bridge is in that pile over by the window next to a silver ethernet cable and a stack of PCMCIA cards, and I think there is an Apple SCSI hard drive on top of it, as well as a notebook on compiling custom kernels in Debian 7- and it will be like a mountain climbing expedition just to get across the piles between you and it.

And I'll be right. I know where the stuff *is* even in apparent chaos. In fact, the more organized I get, the less likely I am to be able to remember where the *specific* item was grouped, organized and stored.

There is probably an interesting analysis of the human psychology of the brain in the study of why that is. I catalog location better in chaos than in organization - for sure.

And people tend to disbelieve this and think I am probably just a hoarder justifying my compulsive obsession when they HEAR me claim this.

But people who have experienced me do this - in a data-center store room full of years of surplus that I wasn't responsible for, in a warehouse, in the temporary mess of my home lab or comic book collection or WHATEVER it was that was in disarray - know it is true.

I notice that a number of us have all voiced the thought that we need to call BBSes more often. We just need to get back into the rhythm. Keep it going... Bring back the BBS!

Ours hasn't been used to "watch television" since before we cut the cord.
But we watch internet videos all the time.

My wife watches a fair amount of TV, so does my kid.

They both *beg* me to watch shows with them. I'm pretty discriminating. F1: Drive to Survive is fairly interesting - they turned F1 Racing into Dallas - an adult soap opera. The concept is what intrigues me. They figured out a narrative to make a flagging sport earn renewed interest. I haven't been interested in F1 since Fittipaldi was winning championships.

Honestly... it still isn't as interesting as it was then - but they've got me going to Austin for a Gran Prix this fall, now.

So it must be working.

It would be a restart, i have no history to transfer over.  Sort of a phoenix, rising from ashes of days gone past.

hell i dont even remember 90% of the platforms i used as it morphed so much over the years, let alone saved any of it.
