Fri Aug 04 2023 10:01:11 PM EDT from nonservatorNewpipe is still working on my old phone with no cell service, available through F-Droid.
And yes, I do use adblock. The problem is that the browser is not
where I tend to watch YouTube videos. It's usually on my phone or on my
TV (controlled from my phone).
Yes, I have the same issue. We watch videos on the big screen and you can't easily block ads. Fortunately, the ads they show on Chromecast or Roku or whatever, are MUCH more tolerable than the ones they show on mobile or desktop.
Less than ten seconds each and they tend to be from major brands.
On mobile, I don't use the app. Just the web site, using an ad blocking browser (Brave). The occasional accidental launch of the app, and the inevitable long-form ad that appears, is a jarring experience.
Hmm didnt know brave did that. Ill have to suggest that as a better option to the spouse.
I dont do that stuff on my phone. Only desktop or tablet, and they both have proper ad block plugins ( and i use browser only )

For your phone, get the Clipious application from F-Droid. It is an Invidious client. The idea is you hook up to an Invidious instance you like and watch whatever Youtube video you want with all the ads and tracking filtered.
It also has community filters for sponsored video segments and the like.

Suggestion:
Set an adblocking proxy in your http network. Then set your TV to use the proxy. If your TV won't use the proxy, force it to use the proxy (Mikrotik is great for benevolent MITMs) and use a proxy with https interception.
i added a pihole to mine, but it didnt stop the in-line ads.

I am aware. I think you have mentioned it a couple of times already.
The http intercepting proxy works by analyzing the traffic incoming with the http requests. If something is identified as an ad, it either
1) Skips requesting the advertisement from the server (so if the website has an url https://advendor.com/advertisement/banner, the request is not made) and offers you filler content in return (ie. the advertisment is replaced by a transparent image or something)
2) Edits the ioncoming traffic dynamically so offending components are rendered less offensive (similar as above).
Sorry, with so many threads after a while things like that tend to be forgotten and i do repeat sometimes. But sometimes its with new people too, which makes it worse.

I keep hearing that Google is going to kill ad blocking somehow, but it keeps not happening.
When it comes to tech I am absolutely an accelerationist. Do it, faggots. Oh no, please Br'er Fox, don't t'row me in dat briar patch.
For anyone who is interested, I have set up a SEARX instance:
It's just barebones for now, since I'm trying out the software. I have to see if there's a way to make it work from my browser's search bar. That would be good. If it works out I'll probably look at branding it, making it a public instance, and using it to drive traffic towards Uncensored.
Share And Enjoy.
Grrrr. The end of what was left of privacy.
"this feature will track the web pages you visit and generate a list of advertising topics that it will share with web pages whenever they ask, and it's built directly into the Chrome browser"
The masses have no clue.
( yes i know, "we dont care about the masses" but their actions do effect the rest of us too )
Mon Sep 11 2023 08:35:00 EDT from IGnatius T FoobarIsn't everyone who cares about privacy using Brave or some other privacy-respecting browser by now?
Looking for some **dog** memes today. google: "Memes about groups of people might be disturbing or hurtful" I guess no more memes for you serfs, google knows best.
So sick of this crybaby society we live in now. People need to grow a pair.

Thanks a lot. I will check it out. If you keep logs you will identify me pretty quickly XD
Setup your own stable diffusion instance, and you can make horse pictures until the cows come home. So to speak.
Mon Sep 11 2023 17:52:03 EDT from darknetuserSo I did some searches for horse pictures and realized I have soooooo many of the ones showing up in the results page already in my collection.
