Subject: NoteSH – terminal-based sticky notes app

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The vast majority of sticky notes apps we’ve previously explored sport a graphical user interface. NoteSH is different. This Python-based open source tool is designed to run from the terminal.

Subject: How to create snapshots on Linux

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

A snapshot is an image of a filesystem state at a specific point in time. Snapshots are really useful to “turn back time” and bring the system to a known good state if something goes wrong. At the time of writing, there are two main native ways we can create atomic snapshots on Linux: by using LVM (Logical Volume Manager) or by creating a BTRFS filesystem, which has snapshots as a built-in feature.

Subject: Zen Browser is a no-Google zone that offers tiling nirvana

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

The Zen Browser is a new effort to modernize web browsing by bringing tiling, workspaces, and so on – and it's blissfully free of Google code. Zen is a new web browser that's still in the relatively early stages of development. Since we have been testing it, it's gone from alpha 27 to 1.0.0-a.32, and during that time, it's already noticeably improved in stability.
