Its the web interface ( thus the ublock idea ) and while i
actually did consider doing that at first, i really don't have
the bandwidth to start up something like that. The reality is i
cook and clean and generally care for the 3 of us here, as well
as share in the grounds keeping, which this time of year is a
lot of effort. ( yard, crops, animals, bla bla ).
I'd love to hear about your farming activities in some other room. Too bad you are taken, because I need a farmgirl in my life and they don't exist around here anymore hahahaha.

Its not like a huge professional farm or anything. just a few thousand acres .. ok just kidding, we dont have a LOT of space, around 20.. and some of it is not trees, so we have a few things out there. simple stuff, corn, tomatoes, few apple trees... stuff like that. No business or anything.. tho i have been known to trade for other things in the fall when we have extras.
animals = mostly dogs.
grounds keeping = grass, bushes.. stuff like that.

Well, I am bad at unit conversion so I expect the farmsize not to match :)
I used to want a simple life as an Engineer, but I actually expect an economy collapse so I switched gears a few years ago and I have been working towards making my house as self-sustaining as possible - which is hard when I am pretty much the only person doing it and when I am also trying to get a steady income from conventional (sort of) sources.
So far I produce around 95% of the electrical power I need, which is a good pile of it because the watering systems for pastures, greenhousing and harvesting areas run off it. I also have a conventional fuel generator for the remaining 5%.
I don't sell any of the vegetables or fruits. I produce a good bunch of them and put all I can into a, shall we say, preservation program. Horses eat the surplus.
Speaking of which, horses do a great job at helping me clear vegetation. They also give life a meaning, because why else would anybody take the effort of crawling through this valley of tears, if not for having a horse pull your ear every now and then? I also have a nice bunch of dogs, and a nice bunch of hens, and I would have a nice bunch of lots of animals if circupstances allowed.

That sounds lovely.
The problem is that having the ingredients is not enough... if you have milk you don't have cheese until you make it. Same with things such as bread. So much farmlife is spent cleaning kitchen tools in order to produce yet another batch of stuff.
It is a lot of sweat but then another food shortage hits the country and you don't give a damn because you have a year worth of home canned food in the huts outside. Totally worth it if just for the peace of mind. Last couple of national crisis that hit, I spent sitting in the porch with a magazine while horses mowed the lawn for me.
