I guess it's somewhat new-ish, having been around since 2012, I think.
I've been reading up on it, and it makes sense to me. It's really, well, common-sense stuff, described in a language that ought to please managers who don't really have common sense.
Heh.
Agile has been around at least as long as Extreme Programming has, and honestly,
some earlier practices like "Spiral" methodology can be considered agile by
today's standards. For that matter, the guy who coined the waterfall model,
in his classic paper on the subject, actually was arguing AGAINST waterfall
and for "agile" methods. But, waterfall stuck ostensibly because those reading
the paper never got past the first two pages of the memo.
Just on a fluke, I decided to install Gnome desktop on my Ubuntu machine,
just to see how different the UX is. Today, I learned that it has absolutely
no impact on the "converged" user experience that Ubuntu was trying to shoot
for. My dock's background color is different. That's all that has materially
changed.
TIL.... that the local Adult World has a A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. I am interested in the problems, how they were resolved and all the people that rated the business. Then again maybe I shouldn't wonder.
I was looking up used bookstores, for some reason Adult World was in the list with a BBB A+ rating.
I've heard Texas is freakishly hot in the summer.
There are certain people in Texas that I wish would melt in that heat, but I'm guessing Texas exists as a place where those people train for hell.

They hide under a bush to keep cool.
So, ARM is no more; it's now Arm (in text) and arm (in logo form, because,
you know, ... reasons). It's the beginning of the end for the company I think;
when a company is more worried with its logo than with renovating its licensing
arrangements for new income flows, that's when the shiny exterior paint starts
to peel.
ARM the architecture probably has enough life in it that it won't even blink at the death of its founding company.
But, hasn't that been more of an industry consortium for a while now anyway? That will continue to exist as long as the major ARM licensees continue to find it useful
I don't care about the architecture. I respect Arm as a historical monument.
As for the industry consortium, no. ARM was the exclusive holder for all things ... ARM architecture. Manufacturers have to license the architecture from ARM for big bucks just to be able to fab the chips, PLUS, commissions on units sold.

TIL that Stewart Copeland's (drummer Police) father worked for the CIA and wrote for conservative magazines. I had previously thought he was in the military. I learned that one of his brothers was the band's manager, the other brother was the booking agent and that the booking agent dated Courtney Cox.
