Just another way to divide people into groups and then set them against each other. Identity politics are bad, m'kay?

TIL... that the song "Video Killed the Radio Star" was a remake, or rather remade by the writers under a different band name.  It was originally released by a group called "The Camera Club". Two of the writers of the song left The Camera Club and formed the Buggles, they re-released the song to success.  Thomas Dobly was in the band Camera Club.

zooer, I think the Buggles did the same thing with I Am a Camera (released to unpopular opinions as themselves, but when the major players moved to Yes, they re-released the song, and it was much more successful). There's a pattern here.

I suck at everything. It's taking a toll on me. I'm walking away from my Kestrel project after almost 10 years of (part-time and sometimes full-time) investment. http://kestrelcomputer.github.io/kestrel/2017/03/07/kestrel-winter

I also learned that Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" was sung by Roy Harper.  (not Gilmour or Waters)

There is a version on the Experience disks with Roger singing it.

Roy Harper definitely did a better job.

Hats Off to Roy Harper!

[Vocals by Roger Waters & David Gilmour]

That is the duet version, I guess they both attempted it,.  I had always thought it was Roger.

TIL.... that Radio Shack still has about 2000 stores open.    It is closing some more, but I thought they closed most of them.

That's disappointing and I'm sorry to hear about it. I remember when you were originally talking about it, back when you had a 65816 based design in mind.

I've got to give you credit for having the resolve to end the project though.
I don't think I could have done it after that long.

Was Rackspace funding your research on the project?

The project is not ended; it's mothballed. Rackspace was not funding it except insofar as I was an employee. I will return to it when I have gainful employment again.

What my post was about, more specifically, was how my 3rd revision of the project was a total abject failure from a productivity POV, while the 2nd revision (Kestrel-2) was an unmitigated success in comparison.

TIL that there are people who sell stuff on eBay that they don't actually have. When they make a sale, they just order the item on Amazon and have it sent to the buyer.

It's a bit frustrating, because I was shopping on eBay specifically because I wanted to avoid Amazon.

I wish we could hire you, kc5tja. I really, really wish we could. But I don't think you'd want to work here, unless you like teaching, don't mind travel, and don't mind 'part-time' (since I doubt these guys will hire a full-time dev instructor).
