You are among friends. I wish we could hang out and quaff a few
tasty beverages.
I am not into alcohol, but I'd take a chocolate shake right now.
But I know you're not willing to disclose your location, and even if you were, it's probably far from where I am.

That only makes it sound better :)

That is a problem I have with my Internet relationships. Everybody I care for enough to share a chocolate shake is so far away as to make the meeting impossible. That includes contacts done over clearnet where identity protection is less of a concern.
It also sucks for "I have a job for you scenarios" where the people telling me they want to hire me think I am in a different country than I am.
I'm in Kent, 40 miles South of the centre of London, England, the United Kingdom, previously part of the EU. I put my house number on openstreetmap, even redrew the boundary someone had made a mess of, am easily reached from my trail of coffee-cups and energy bar wrappers, all over London and Kent; get- oh so perfectly - targeted advertising for stuff i wish i had the money to buy, and invitations to get involved in big money all the time by real nice people who wanna share their success secrets: With Me ( B) ).
Yet still nobody wants to hire me - i'm heading for the darknet fellahs!!
There is an Intel office in Swindon. You could give them a shot. Bit of a drive.

I have the suspicion Big Tech jobs are starting to turn into crap.
The Big Tech employees I know of around here are fleeing en masse from those jobs. After meeting their Human Resources people, I don't wonder why.
They are much more interested in having lambs than in producing hardware or code at this point. It is super pathetic. I mean, they run a boot camp for finding people worth hiring, and they discard the guy who has commits on 5 am and the guy who is caught reading some software design pattern book because those guys are surely freaks.
Unfortunately, I think you are surely right.
But, they started to turn to crap here in the US around 2003 - so you had a good run. :)
"Diversity"... it doesn't mean what Intel thinks it does.

Swindon is not too much of a drive, but one hell of a commute. If intel gets into the Agriculture businness, and pays well, i might consider the drive to check out the 'Muddy Boot Camp'. :)

If you're due south of London, by dead reckoning, you would be in Sussex.
In any event, I pass near you roughly fortnightly, on either Wednesday, or Thursday, usually at approximately 56mph
Well, Ig, you're right. It does happen in cycles. Yours is ALMOST as dead of traffic as mine.
You've got an Arabella though. I need to get an Arabella, or reasonable facsimile of. That user who shows up when everyone else has nothing left to say...
I prefer posting cycles in *minutes*. :)
Sat Feb 13 2021 13:15:53 EST from IGnatius T FoobarThat's funny, I don't consider this to be a slow time. Probably because I perceive the posting-cycle to be in days rather than hours.

They are rare, and sometimes dangerous.
Also:
Do not meddle in the affairs of 'Bellas, for they are subtle, and quick to anger
Sat Feb 13 2021 09:28:06 AM EST from zooerArabella's got some interstellar-gator skin boots
*Wistfully remembers the 60s*
I traded them for a mohair suit (Benny never forgave me)
Well, I got the Elton John one. The other one, is it Tolkien? Is it the affairs of dragons?

Aha. With help, it is the affairs of wizards, not dragons. But the source was right. ;)
