That message is harmless, and one of these days we ought to get around to
keeping that auto-generated account from getting purged.
I installed Citadel on Ubuntu15 using the command:
sudo apt-get install citadel-suite
I was not prompted for an admin id/password.
What is the default admin id/password in this situation?
Thanks!
Mike

IG (or whomever else might be monitoring things):
Uncensored no longer seems to be polling Dog Pound II, and Dog Pound II doesn't seem to be able to properly connect to Uncensored, anymore:
Flags: .
Session: 8597
Name: SYS_CitNetworker
In room:
Host: uncensored.citadel.org
Client: Failed to connect
Idle: 405325:21:00
Can someone figure out what's going on, over here?OM
In other news, since I don't get any traffic at DP2 other than networking and RSS feeds, I'm seriously considering taking DP2 down and suggesting that the two nodes that network with me work with IG (or whomever else helps manage it) to arrange direct networking with Uncensored.

Still running into the same thing. I kill the session from my end, i get new
packets imported, and then my system attempts to make an outbound connection
to Uncensored and I get the same error. That session stays until I @term it
and something else kicks in.

Drastic suggestion....
Completely re-install your Citadel software.
There is obviously something mucking things up, and it could well be executable file corruption. How old is the hard drive it sits on?

Freaky.... it's broken again.

I've already rebuilt it. It's not a corrupt binary issue...corrupt binaries either don't run at all or coredump all over the place...neither of which is the case.
IG...after removing the ~128K spoolfile, things seem to be working, again.
I'd like to get the spoolfile over to you (or someone) for analysis and, if possible, import into Uncensored (since there's traffic back from my system and a couple of others that might be relevant to discussions).
What's my best option for doing so?

Wow. Whodathunkit?!?!?!
Well, if that was the cause and it's fixed, great! And thank-yew.
Wow. Ok, so to clarify -- is this an outbound spool file that your system was not able to send, or an inbound spool file that your system was not able to import?
Either way, drop it on a web server somewhere and I'll put it on my dev system to take it apart.
Ultimately, I want to completely replace the networking system with something else. I'm moving towards abandoning the framework that lets multiple Citadel servers share a single email domain, because as far as I can tell, nobody is using it that way. Plenty of people want multiple domains on one server; nobody wants multiple servers on one domain. It just isn't our sweet spot.
So the networking thing will be strictly for room sharing in the traditional sense, and we have to make it easy.
Since we own port 504/udp as well as 504/tcp, I'm thinking we could build some sort of automatic peer-to-peer network. With a bit of planning, this could allow any Citadel operator to "publish" the existence of a shareable room, and anyone could "subscribe" to it. It would automatically punch through firewalls and discover the topology.
I wonder if we can find the person who owns the rights to the name "CitaNet" and ask if we can use it... :)

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever exerted rights to "CitaNet".
Ultimately you should track down Jeff Prothero (Cynbe ru Taren) somewhere in Seattle (good luck with that).
In his absence, there would be Hue, Jr. in Minneapolis. Neither he or his "Citadel-86 Test System" has been heard from since roughly 1993.
The next step would be the developer of Citadel:K2NE.
That dates from 1986.
The developer in question would be me.
I have ABSOLUTELY no objection.

c86net.dyndns.org was up and running a few years ago, 2013 or so.... just for a few months. Not that it matters

Heh.
As I said earlier, the CitaNet thingee has never been exerted as "proprietary." Not by CrT, or Hue, Jr. or me.
Just use it. <evil grin>

Outbound spool...I'll take care of making it available and message you privately with the link.
I thought the idea of having multiple servers on one domain was for the groupware functionality. I would think that if we want to position the software for the groupware space, we would want to keep that functionality in place.
