Yeah... there are a lot of buildings sitting empty now, that may never have people in them again. I wonder about the ripple of what that will do to the economy.

Not been there since last March. Was sort of odd. Place is a ghost town. There use to be upwards of 4000 people in my building, with public in/out all day long in some areas. Perhaps 300 on my floor. I saw 4 people today on my floor. 5 others in the building. ( and this was lunchtime even )
Almost like going in on a holiday Sunday.
Really upset one of my dogs. She is younger, so does not know why i just packed up and left in the middle of the day. then came back with an odd smell.
I have heard its put a lot of smaller restaurants out of business downtown. They are on a tight margin anyway, and with 1/10 of the business.. cant survive.
The mall is about gone too, tho its demise started before this.
I think the overall economy will be ok ( if we hadn't torpedoed it with trillions in spending.) as its more of a shift in how we do things, not that we dont still do it. Food delivery services, are making a killing ( for example ). And most everything here kept their drive thru open..

Yeah, there is absolutely a shift in the economy - and I wonder if that will be a net gain or net loss. We're certainly in the process of setting off hurricanes with the flapping of butterfly wings - although the butterfly has been Mothra.

I agree, large dense urban centers with high density living and lots of mass transit seem to be the ideal breeding place for Covid.
But... do we really want all those people spending THAT much more time in the suburbs? Won't that just shift the demographics of where infection is most likely in the future, eventually?

Yes that is the downside of collapsing cites. they invade the suburbs and reduce the 'way of life' there quite a bit. And when that is full they head to areas like i live and eradicate our way of life. ( like i have mentioned, i need out, due to that reason )
