That is one reason low-code frameworks are so popular i think
Of course. They turn development from an art to a craft. A shitty developer plus more memory still costs less than a good developer.
Dammit. Missed trash day. By the time i heard the truck out side, it was driving past. Being off Monday thru me off. I was thinking this was Wednesday. Was even about to send out my typical 'hump day' email to my team. ( normally its Wednesday Addams .. 'happy Wednesday' or something. )
Looking down the street, seems i'm not the only person. And why i didnt hear it sooner..
And on top of that. I ran out of cola syrup. Had to make more, which takes hours ( due to cooling. Cant add my flavor when warm, or it ruins it )
AND my new generic RK5588 arm router board showed after a month of waiting. ( going to put opnsense on it for some v-lan extensions out of my server farm and a 2nd physical subnet ). Postal lady pre-filled out the 'we missed you' card and dropped it in my box and left.. didnt even knock. So i have to take time to go to the post office tomorrow. wtf.
When you re-partition your SSD so you can install an OS, make sure its not your boot SD card you actually partitioned..
Dammit. Nothing lost, but time.
I hate it when I make rookie mistakes like this. Usually after I've checked 3 times to make sure I *wasn't* making the rookie mistake, only to go ahead and make it anyhow.

I've never done it myself, mainly because I was always so afraid of it that I always insisted on physically disconnecting all external storage before working on it. But I've seen others do it. Hoo boy, that can be a "resume generating event".
Not as bad, but first day at a clients office, early 90s ( i was the new guy and taking over for another guy in that part of the state ):
Time to shut down a NetWare server, at the power off screen ( i forget why now, just something i needed to do with the server ). *click*.. um.. why didnt the screen go blank... From the front room i hear a teller yell back back " did we go down " arrgh..
"oh, ya, those labels are wrong on those servers at that branch, i have been meaning to fix that for a while, sorry about that" So instead of a planned outage a file server that 2 people used, i took out their mainframe SNA connection that the tellers out on the floor used...
5 mins to come back, but not the point.
Funny thing is i was ( get this ) the windows expert, and why i was hired..
Being in an R&D position, you would think that it's a relatively slow-paced, methodical type of role where I quietly sit and carefully consider designs and write code.
But no, I would say most of my time is spent frantically debugging or chasing down proofs in time to convince someone else from doing something fucking retarded. The problem is that morons generate code faster than I can convince them that they're morons.
Who dont they piss off these days?
in this case, they require you to install an entire dev tool kit just to flash a OS image ( or boot loader ) onto one of their dev boards. And as they are butt-heads, they only support host OS versions of like 2 versions ago.. and it will check and fail to work if you have anything current.
Actually, i think i complained about this not to long ago. Same thing, same reason, still pisses me off due to all the trouble.
That and i was trying to reload a model they discontinued, which i still dont understand why. They keep the low end board, ( even came out with an even lower-end one ) then came out with this, which was several times 'better' than the earlier low end models, then shortly after a even higher end board ( which is fine ) but then dropped the middle, and most cost effective, version... wtf..

go on...
ugh. i have no experience with their embedded/ARM products but it sounds typical.
I do run their desktop GPUs, I'm not 100% sure what's going on but it seems like there have been some driver issues lately that are still unresolved.
Normally you dont need an entire kit *just* to flash. In this case its not even an 'os image build kit' ( which they dont have, as far as i know, you are stuck with their images ) its an 'app dev kit' for stuff to run on the device, under (ick) ubuntu
And using stuff like Armbian or Build root, its not all that bad. Run a builder, select a few options you want, out pops an OS image you can put on removable storage and boot. Then install it to eMMC or M.2 several you can also just plug in to yoru PC and it shows up as a 'storage drive' and flash it from there.
They really didnt need to lock you in to their ecosystem so tightly. You gave them the $ for the board, set it free.

right, even with some embedded boards that take socketed flash chips, you can often flash said chip with a generic ROM burner.
in other nvidia news, I woke up this morning suspecting an nvidia driver bug, only to find cat barf all over my passive displayport-to-hdmi adapter
ouch

yeah, the adapter appears to be fried, and the port it was plugged into appears to be fried, but there are 2 other DP+ ports to work with so hopefull I only need to buy a new adapter.
I am connecting to a TV (HDMI only) and a monitor that has both DP and HDMI, but this crappy NVidia BIOS does not correctly initialize GOP on boot when connected via DP, so I use the adapter almost always despite some minor limitations.
I bought this graphics card in the middle of the pandemic plus crypto driven shortage, so I was not able to get my hands on a card that had two native HDMI ports.
This BIOS bug has probably been present in the last 3 generations of Nvidia products. Ugh.

Grrr opt-out on changes should be illegal.

Yes. Also, I've noticed a trend that when you opt out of spam mail, "We automatically resubscribe you after 6 months so that you don't forget. You're welcome!"
