As someone who lives in a country with good socialized healthcare, I don't think socialized health care is necessarily a bad thing. On the other hand, I don't see how ObamaCare gives actual socialized health care. In a good system, everyone pays a reasonable amount b/c the systems aren't run on as high a profit margin. In ObamaCare, the middle class and up pays more. Only the lowest working class seems to benefit, as far as I can tell.

Where did you get the idea that ObamaCare has anything to do with providing health care? That may be one of the side effects, as poorly executed as it may be, but the primary purpose of ObamaCare is to expand the reach of big government.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

It would never happen, but if someone introduced a federal law in the United States of America, written in French, stating that all laws must be written in English, how would Judges interpret it?

I am for a law that outlaws all laws.

Based on recent history it would probably turn into a needlessly partisan battle. I'm sure some folks would call it a racist law, others would talk about how we have a basic human right to speak French, there would be papers about the irony of "lingua franca" being English, and when it finally got to the courts, they'd end up ruling on something other than what the law was originally written for.

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land's timidity
Has us all bound;
Land where the TSA
Has kept us all afraid,
With politicians' aide
Our king is crowned.

Subject: "The Quiz"

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

No, this isn't another advertisement for the Nolan chart.  :)   I still consider myself a libertarian but I'm completely fed up with the Libertarian Party's complete lack of pragmatism.  Anyway, it's that time of the decade again here in the US, where we are given the illusion of participation in our government by choosing which moron gets to sit in the white house for the next four years.  Here's a site that has what appears to be an objective quiz that tells you which of the candidates most matches your worldview.

Here are my own results.  They agree with what I already suspected: either the LP is getting even further out of touch, or I am personally sliding to the right, or perhaps a bit of both.

Candidates you side with...

Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney

90%

The text client didn't read the url correctly, it is http://www.isidewith.com/ for those too last to remove the extra characters at the end
of the link after the 404 error.

Romney is all over the place on many issues, to me he is the John Kerry of the republican party. I might write in "uncensored BBS" for
president.

I took the quiz, I dislike quizzes like that because sometimes the questions are so open ended or not asked correctly.

"Is Global Warming a threat to the environment?"

I believe climate change affects the environment, but I don't think it is all man made.

Do you believe the theory of Evolution?
It is a theory, I think the question could be better worded, "agree" instead of believe.

There were two drug/marijuana related questions. I believe the war on drug as cost billions with no results, it is a failure. Do I think
legalizing all illegal drugs will solve all problems? No. I do believe marijuana is a no more of a dangerous drug than alcohol or
caffine.

My result:
95% - Gary Johnson on foreign policy, economic, domestic policy, healthcare, science, and social issues.
95% - Ron Paul on foreign policy, economic, domestic policy, healthcare, immigration, science, and social
issues.
82% - Virgil Goode on foreign policy, economic, domestic policy, immigration, and healthcare issues.
78% - on domestic policy, economic, immigration, and healthcare issues.
56% - Barack Obama on social and science issues.
72% - New York Voters on economic and social issues.
88% - American Voters on economic, domestic policy, social, immigration, and healthcare issues.

Mitt Romney? The junk bond kingpin?

Better off with Jimmy McMillan, who, strangely, is running as a Republican.
