"This is about bashing on Microsoft and Bill Gates"

Proceeds to steer it to bashing on Steve Jobs. :D

The thing is, Jobs was teflon. No one cares that he tried weird holistic Eastern remedies to fight cancer - in *fact* - it actually probably enhances his image with the core cult of Apple - most of who would do the same kind of thing because they "don't trust big corporate pharma..." It is such a Northern Californian Coastal kind of attitude. The skinny frail guy in the dark cottage overlooking Bodega bay smoking weed in his turtleneck, well worn jeans and sandals telling you about his holistic chakra regime through the smoky room as some mellow obscure music plays on an old retro HiFi unit in the corner. There are beads in the doorway, sand on the floor, and beams of light shine through the hanging smoke. He is facing death, but he isn't worried. He is contemplative about what the next part of the journey will be like. Steve Jobs.

Bill Gates... in a giant Chrome and Glass monstrosity of a mansion on an exclusive harbor in a prestigious and snobby new-money part of Seattle - with his yacht at the moor, in a cold impersonal room that feels like a corporate boardroom, wearing a sweater vest and off-the-rack khakis, his haircut from the local Jr. College Hair Academy, telling you about how meat is ruining the environment and patting himself on the back that he is going to leave his kids shit and donate it all to suffering people in other countries... eventually.  "Oh, did I mention I've been considered for a Huebreeze Award? It is very prestigious. It is only given to people who've done more for society than Mother Theresa, Jimmy Carter, and Gandhi combined. You also have to be great looking and very popular."

Heh. Which sounds a little bit like something Trump would *actually* get *caught* saying, honestly.

I think you're missing the point. Jobs had modern medicine available to him for a long time and he CHOSE freakazoid medicine instead, while his cancer was still curable. By the time he wised up it was too late.

Jobs was a snake oil salesman. Woz was the real genius ... and when Woz was sick, and being treated with real modern medicine, Jobs tried to cut him out of Apple.

In the beginning - all the way up. The best part of Woz is he *knows* he should just stick to the tech and ignore the "people part" of the industry.

Steve Jobs is exactly what *every* tech company needs, and a lot of them, especially the ones that fail, sorely lack.

If Linus had a Steve Jobs - we all *would* be using Linux all the time. Or at least, more than 2% of the desktop market.

Woz is the amiable fat technology guy who gets along with everyone, keeps his opinions on most things to himself, very few people know what his beliefs are, even on divisive technology issues, and he is best one-on-one at a pizza parlor over beer.

Still cooler than Bill Gates.

You wont get me to disagree on that one. Tho in the beginning he did need Jobs, to help 'steer' him.

Obama was given one ... because.... well no one really can tell us
why.

He ran on ending the war in Afghanistan... the endless war.    He
of course got the peace prize and kept the war going.  Democrats
love war when a democrat is in charge of it.

The noble peace prize is bullshit

Is there any Nobel price that isn't bullshit these days?

Nobels are the new Oscars. Increasingly meaningless but for the people sucked into their world.

So maybe Gates *should* get a Nobel prize ... as part of an effort to discredit the Nobel prize.

There's all sorts of nasty occultism in Freemasonry.  Fortunately, Woz didn't bake any of it into his ROMs or chipsets, so it is of no consequence to us as computer users.

Would not surprise me.

I joined up. Went thru the first level so i guess i'm 'official' but not a 'true' member ( dont have to pay dues or donate to the dinner fund as an 'apprentice' lol . I actually tried to donate to the dinner fund when i was there and told i was not allowed to yet ).  But back to the 'ceremony' I was barely able to make it thru without laughing.  I was trying to be respectful as they take it seriously, but man it was hard.. My dad was a member of the Scottish Rite.  He joined only to make contacts with others, and i guess he did some debate/acting in high school and they do to.. Figured id do the same, but have to start out with the 'regular' masons first.  But i dont have the same level of commitment. I just could not do it.

Shame too, i was looking forward to seeing the spaceship in the basement.

( i know, borderline religion on this one, if it goes further ill move over to the other room )

Bill Gates and company builds a lot of back doors into its products.

Bill Gates purchases farm land.

Bill Gates using the built-in back doors brings major supply lines to a halt blaming it on Russian hackers.

After that I don't know what happens.

</paranoid> </conspiracy>

I hear you can do a lot of damage to a person with a combine harvester. Bill Gates should be fed into one.

I suspect any land he buys, wont have any equipment. Being that his goal is to starve us common folk, why have the hardware there to work the crops?

I kinda shrugged one shoulder - cuz, honestly - if you call them up and go through their little routine, they'll reactivate the key, most likely. I've gotten them to do it at least a half dozen times.

An Enterprise key that disables for a hardware change? There *has* to be a way to take care of that. I don't know that I ever encountered that in my career - but if I had... I absolutely would be calling my Microsoft Enterprise licensing rep and first being very polite about, "how are we going to fix this?" and then raising holy hell if I ran into any resistance.

A big part of being a Microsoft shop is learning how to navigate Microsoft's licensing labyrinth and spending lots of time on the phone with the right people doing things that shouldn't be part of your job.

ya, but i'm not in the teams that do that sort of support, or the license people, ( they are a separate team ) so i dont want to piss anyone off.

People here are VERY protective of their silos.
