Well, at this point it behaves that way. It didn't at first. What we can speculate about is whether the response to it got us here sooner or later.

Since the government mandated the lock-downs and shots, i suspect it got us here later than nature would have on her own :)   Government always chooses the wrong route.

Dear Mom: Remember 2020? Remember when all these experimental pharmaceutical treatments were being rolled out, and I said I'd read the fine print which outright admitted these treatments did not prevent infection by or transmission of this particular "novel" respiratory virus? Remember how your response was exactly the same as the response from almost everyone I knew in 2016 when I went to Donald Trump's campaign website and read his proposed presidential policies, instead of listening to what the deranged and hysterical shrieking was insisting? Remember how the response was to tell me to shut up and call me a Nazi? Remember when I hesitantly expressed my concern that I might someday be forced to make healthcare decisions for you, and that I didn't want you to feel I would be acting against your best interests, and your response was to blow me off with the words "I have a husband"? Remember how your husband is now dead, God rest his soul?

God help us all. Except the globohomo clown world motherfuckers that permanently drove a wedge between my mother and I. They can all take a big step backward, and literally fuck their own face until they fuck themselves to death.

Ya out of liberal self-fueled panic and outright false info being pushed by Fauci and his crew.. a lot of bad decisions were made, by a lot of people who should have known better and questioned the 'experts'.

Lots of people have the masks back on this week, but it's because of all the smoke wafting in from the wildfires up in Chinada. This is the first time I've actually been able to smell smoke in the free air, so I guess it's worse than usual. I don't think it's worth putting a mask on, but it's detectable.

The usual culprits are scaremongering, of course. My daughter came home from school terrified that we were going to have to evacuate.

Here's a photo a friend-of-a-friend took in Chinada.  It looks like Mars.

If you can smell the smoke, you should wear a face mask.  You don't want those particulates in your lungs, they can cause all kinds of nasty, the effects of which won't come for several years.  Fire byproducts like ash can contain dioxin, which is a carcinogen.

Or you can ignore my advice, it is your body after all.

I wouldn't have faulted anyone for wearing a mask this past week. I was indoors most of the time so it didn't matter to me but if I had been spending a lot of time outside I might have done it. Smoke particles are bigger than china virus particles (source: https://tinyurl.com/4b5k9rby ) so if it makes a difference, go ahead.

On the other hand, it seemed like some of the mask-wearers were just delighted to finally be getting another hit of fear porn.

Of course they were.

I cant say if i would or not.

I do think canister masks would be effective ( "are you my mommy"? ), but not so sure a piece of cloth or paper is worth the trouble.

when the air quality was bad , that’s when I found out I didn’t know where I’d left all my masks. I try to  not judge mask wearers in any case, just assume they or someone they are close to is going through chemo and they are trying their best with the knowledge they have.

Does anyone else here listen to The Model Healthshow podcast?

Mine are in my jeep.  So that if i go somewhere that still required it ( like doctors office ) it was there.   Get back, instantly goes in the glove compartment.

Tho i have a real mask, for painting, i could wear if i had to :)

Heh. The masks that I had been keeping around were specially designed to be extra thin and breathable, because cloth masks don't work against the chinavirus, so they basically just satisfied mask requirements without blocking my access to air quite so much.

That was great but they weren't useful when I actually wanted a mask to filter the canada smoke out of the air. So I stayed inside, mostly.

Same here. tho the masks i ended up with had dogs on them, and did have a pocket for paper filter.   One for each dog.   Early on i printed one out of flexible filament, put a smiley face sticker on it.  I so wanted to put a bird on it, ( as in middle finger ) and call it 'free speech'. Hosed my printer, had to tear it apart, replace the hot-end and recalibrate everything. Will never use that stuff again.

Had another with the valves so you didnt suffocate, which were banned from use here in several places.  Really? wtf. idiots. Even if you believe in masks, it was an INTAKE valve..

i got the file from one of the 3D model sites (thingaverse probably).  how bad did your printer get fried? dead board or burnt to a crisp and toss in trash can?

The filament jammed up the hot end and i wasn't even able to burn it back out with a torch.  And i guess really I meant to say fried the printer hot end, not 'just' printer.

Not that its "hard" to replace a hot end on a 'direct drive' head. ( never went bowden when that started becoming a thing. I never saw an advantage other than speed ), but dong that does require total re-calibration, of everything.  which is a royal pain in the neck.  That included the feed tube too. so more effort.  Normally i can get away with just the nozzle when they wear out. But not that time. Was all of it.
