Wow. Yes. Succinct.

But you also kind of nailed the pitfall of capitalism - it is a DIRECT democracy - and that is the tyranny of the majority. If the market is stupid - you can't get a cellphone with free GPS, or unlimited text - because the 80% of idiots will pay for something they should demand be included in their plan. Right? And a capitalist enterprise isn't going to GIVE AWAY shit that costs them nothing if they can charge for it.

Classic example - I forget which railroad baron - but the slaughter houses, their were MOUNTAINS of hooves by the train stations rotting in the sun - and whoever it was - some guy riding around in a gilded coach with velvet seating thought, "Those hooves, are worth a penny a ton, but if I can get them to glue and gelatin factories from EVERY station they're rotting at - they're worth MILLIONS" - today - that is Musk or Bezos. "How can I turn this worthless, taken for granted thing into pennies, and with ENOUGH of those pennies, into millions, even trillions of dollars."

That kind of brilliance is what moves capitalist society forward - and it is a FANTASTIC thing. But it also leverages the stupidity of common people.

And the Communists have recognized the value of this principle. China in particular - is super enthusiastic about using CAPITALIST principles to further communist goals.

And Capitalist Republics based on Democratic values have a hand tied behind their back in trying to fight this without becoming the things they despise. It is a unique catch-22.

And we tend to describe Left to Right as a linear progression from Left to Right... but really it is a ring - with moderate centrist at the top,

And Fascist Right and Authoritarian Left at the bottom of that ring, right next to one another - restricting expressions of freedom they disagree with.

You're describing the Nolan chart, which is typically used to demonstrate that most reasonable people are libertarians and didn't know it.

Of course, it's pushed pretty hard by the Libertarian Party, who are no longer libertarians.

Disney is banning pulling out your cell phone and filming your vacation..   Really?         Of course i agree disruptions should be dealt with, but pulling out a phone is considered a disruption?  People have been filming ( literally film, if you go back far enough ) vacations for like forever..  WTF is wrong with these people?

Too bad they voluntarily gave up their rights to keep and bear arms - or they could more effectively rise up and let their government know it is overstepping its boundaries.

Arresting people for expressing ideas, even abhorrent ones - may not be fascism - but it is authoritarian and wrong.

Here we go.  The next step to total control. Age verification was just the first.  "But but but its for the kids!!"

"Tech companies such as Apple and Google have been asked by the UK government to block access to naked images on smartphones and other devices for under-18s. Sir Keir Starmer has told firms to either activate built-in features or update software to prevent children from taking, sending or viewing sexually explicit images on their phones and other devices."

The headline ... is utterly ridiculous ... but it's actually true.

Larry Sanger, the Co-Founder of Wikipedia, has been "blocked indefinitely" after he proposed that Wikipedia include "Intellectual Diversity".

"I want moar power!! Gimme Gimme" "its for the kids!!!"    This will not end well for the citizens as a whole down there.  Next the UK.. Then the US.  Only advantage they have here, is people like zukerbug and musk fund the lobbyists.. ( putting it lightly.. i know the real truth is total fraud, they buy the actual politicians... )

"Australia plans to strengthen laws banning children from social media"    "The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper reported Inman Grant saying in an interview in early June: "I don't have potent powers."

And no, i didn't make it up just to rant -> https://www.npr.org/2026/06/26/g-s1-130375/australia-plans-to-strengthen-laws-banning-children-from-social-media

And related, just read about a law just signed here in my state..

I'm ok with telling them to keep them in their pockets, but this is infringement of property rights.

"Starting July 1, public and charter schools will have to prohibit students from using their personal cellphones, tablets, smartwatches, laptops and other devices during the school day.

These schools must forbid students from bringing these devices at all or create a storage policy for them to be powered off and inaccessible throughout the day. "
