If you speak and no one can hear you.. is it still free speech?
Depends. If it's because the government has censored you, then no. If it's because nobody wants to listen by their own choice, then yes.

Amen to that. Back when the cranky old pedophile was here with us, he kept shouting "censorship!!!" but really he was just being an asshole and we showed him the door. 230 is pretty clear about that.
I didnt read his exact words as i was not interested in what they lying scumbag has to say, but seems Fauci is upset that free speech allows people to talk bad about him. I am sure a rather common opinion of the political elite

An European politician was recently found declaring that using government resources to track down people who talked trash against him was a legitimate use of tax money because it served the interests of the people.
Hmm seems here in my state, on the 27th any online service that has 'not appropriate for children' content must now collect your personal information so you can prove you are over 18. Such as drivers licenses, SSNs etc. If you dont, you are supposed to be blocked.
Aside from it being totally useless, i wonder if places like Netflix and Amazon will cut you off if you dont pony up your ID. Or even FB, and Google.. Or if they add mandatory filtering, you get the kid friendly stuff without ID, but that is it. Wonder if R rated shows qualify.. they are 'rated' for mature audience. not 'children' .. Even the news could qualify if they wanted to push this.
Law suit has been filed against the state by a number of entities, but who knows.
I admit i didnt follow the case, as i thought it was going to be tossed out anyway due to constitutional reasons. ( i also didnt follow the guy, i heard he's a bit of a nutcase, so was never interested )
But, it seems Alex Jones has to pay like 1.2 billion, and lose everything ( including his alt-media company.. silenced ), due to exercising his right of free speech, and not saying what was 'approved' speech? Or did i miss something here?

Never gonna happen. There's too much money in pr0n to allow that to remain in effect. Every pr0n site has a free tier that makes you click "I am over 18" but the people who use the free tier are not going to de-anonymize themselves by submitting identification.
But if it hurts Facebook, I'm all for it. Whatever is bad for Facebook is good for everyone else.

Alex Jones was the scapegoat. He's so extreme (even if he is almost always right) that few people disagreed with him being canceled. Simply think "First they came for Alex Jones..." and complete the rest.
Scott Adams was ridiculed when he predicted that people who oppose The Party would be "hunted." But who's laughing now? He was absolutely spot on.
I tried a few sites today actually, looking to see who was popping up the warning. I found one. So i tried VPN using an out port in a state that has the same sort of law ( Texas ), and its a hard block. I'm sure not ALL will follow the rules, but at least one is. I suppose ones that refuse, is ground to do IP blocking via local ISPs. The precedent is there for 'pirate sites'. I cant say if Texas is more specific to porn or is as generic as ours is, but its got something and its in effect.
So 'not gonna happen', well it already has..

I even disagree with the other side being cancelled, let them speak nonsense.

LoL i read that as "Douglas Adams" and was thinking "when the hell did he say that, only thing i remember is "they were the first up against the wall" scene in HHTG, which did NOT fit this..

Don't have all details, i don't want to know them.
Several men in Germany attacked a young girl, filmed it and put it on whats app. All were convicted between the film and other evidence, and then set free on probation.
A woman sent nasty words to the number associated with the terrible act. Shes now in jail.
Well seems Julian Assange took a plea deal of time-served for pleading guilty.
I have mixed feelings since he really didn't commit any crimes, but i do understand that getting to go home and finally be done with it all is pretty important.
SCOTUS fails.
Seems they claim citizens and states don't have "standing" to sue over violations of the first amendment in regards to the federal government 'influencing' social medial companies. So kick the serfs to the curb and let it continue.
Disclaimer: I have not read the ruling yet and just heard a summary, so i could have got wrong info.
Last minute injunction on the 'adult content registration requirement' law.
Regardless of how one feels about keeping kids in their lane, destroying privacy and restricting speech is not the path.
Pornography is not speech. Make Porn Illegal Again!

Even if that was true, this is not about porn at its core. its about "adult oriented content" which can apply to nearly any arbitrary content they want, and force every adult person to give up their privacy.
Porn is the excuse, and like many laws "but its for the children". When really its not.
