Subject: citadel on raspbian

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I sucessful run the easy install script on the raspbian. Everything seems to work.

But during the installation of samba I've got an error concerning citadel.

It has nothing to do with samba, because I ve got the same problem with other new installations:

though its citadel networking this is rather a question for the citadel support room ;-)

sendcommand meanwhile lost the ability to do remote connections; only unix domain socket connections are supported anymore.

This is for security reasons; since its only intended for administrative purposes.

it wasn't intended for what you're trying to do in first place. It can't execute a sequence of commands, so you can only run commands which make sense whithout a certain context and environment like the RWHO command.

Did you already have a look at:

http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:generalquestions:i_want_to_automate

?

the netcat example may be a good startingpoint for you.

Subject: rooms and putics getics

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Dear All

I just installed the citadel on my server. I understand the room/floor concept but It's not clear to me where they resides on a Debian installation. I mean: In which folder are they located?

Second, I would like to use ICAL putics/getics command. Could please provide to me a complete example or provide me support material?

I run ICAL putics command getting the error:

 sendcommand ICAL putics

sendcommand: started (pid=18450) connecting to Citadel server at /var/run/citadel/citadel-admin.socket
200 giacintoII Citadel server ADMIN CONNECTION ready.
ICAL putics
560 Not a calendar room
sendcommand: processing ended.

so the question is : Where Are rooms?! :)

Thanks

Dear all,

Yesterday I installed Citadel on my Ubuntu 12.04 Apache2 Server.

Everything worked fine in the first run, I could access Webcit remotely within the network and fine-tune configuration via localhost, internal IP and DynDNS domain.

But since I have added a mailbox for polling, I cannot access Webcit/CItadel from remote computer in network anymore, getting the following error message ...

Content-length: 59

551 Unerwartete Meldung vom Citadel Server erhalten: Exit.

I tried the internal IP address "192.168.2.123:2000" as well as "home.dynsdns.com:2000".

Locally on the server it works, but interestingly with "192.168.2.123:2000" only."localhost:2000" and ""home.dynsdns.com:2000" also fail giving ...

BTW, "home.dyndns.com" itself works fine as well as all other services that can be reached via the domain.

Anything I could do?

Best,

Christian

which version of citadel are you running?

It seems as if there is a line break in the HTTP headers which is wrong.

Hi

could you provide me a complete example simulating a session using the sendcommand utility, starting from authentication and using a putics and getics ical commands in order to manipulate a calendar room and importing/exporting calendar data from a client?

Are there some scripts describing such behavior?

I hesitate to ask this, as it seems like the kind of thing people must have asked before, but I can't find this information on the www.citadel.org website, so I'm gonna ask it here.

Does Citadel provide a way to record chat messages for review later?

That is, if I were chatting with a friend in a private room (for example), and we talked about something that I wanted to review tomorrow, how might I go about doing that?

once more - sendcommand isn't meant to do this. It can only handle one simple command, which may need privileges.

Since you can't send several commands through it, you can't build up a context.

The most easiest way to record such a session is to do it using webcit configured to run tcp port 504 instead of unix domain sockets.

The easiest way to upload a whole calendar may be using a dav client like cadaver - or more simple cURL (see what cadaver does, do the important with cURL)

its not possible with room chats - only with direct person to person chats;  They will end up in sent/received pages.

Okay, noted.

I'm considering the use of Citadel for something here at work, and I suspect we need to be able to record the chats. Likely, though, it'll be user-to-user rather than room-based, so this could work for us.

Subject: Re: citadel on raspbian "missing LSB tags and overrides"

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Here I found the solution (thanks for sysmut (thread from 29th of september 2013):

>

I figured it out and all appears to run well.  Just insert the following header in /etc/init.d/webcit

#!/bin/sh

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:  webcit
# Required-Start:
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
# Default-Stop: 0 1 6
# Short-Description: Start daemon at boot time
# Description: Enable service provided by daemon.
### END INIT INFO

...

Please advise if this header info should be better customized.

Found quite a horrible bug.

When I update my contact details, the POST sends but does not save in the backend.

Is this a localised error, is it my setup per-chance?
