In most of these cases, its so they can leave the country, so let them be gone. ( or just to make a political statement have have zero intent, but again, let them be gone.  ) And personally, id question where the person's loyalties lie if they have dual citizenship, regardless of the countries involved..

Despite growing up in a tiny farming community, in a school that graduated 70 people in my graduating class, 8 of them were dual citizens.  One of them triple.

If something like that poses a question about someone's personality or quality as a human being, to you, then I question that about you.

No, i said loyalty not personalty.

They are a citizen of country A and country F.     There is a war between A, F and C, then who do they pick to support ( or even fight for )?  If they pick F, they clearly should not have been a citizen of A and only took advantage of A. If they pick A, same thing about F. If they pick C, then they should have not been one of either.

I create a lot of traffic - and X and FB both like that - but I say Ig type things - and they hate that - so they sandbox me, but are reluctant to cancel me - I think they suspect it would cause a lot of uproar - because I have decent followings among VERY active people.

I think that might not be it. The person on that account doesn't seem anything like you. I did remember your first name, but I still can't find you on X.
(I did reactivate the account, but I unfollowed anything that could encourage me to post anything even slightly controversial.)

I am @igfoobar on X. These days the account is pretty well sanitized, I mostly follow tech stuff because talking about world affairs exposes me to the kind of people who want me to suffer for telling them uncomfortable truths, if you know what I mean.

And yes, my lifetime ban from the site was lifted when Twitter became X.

Personality has less to do with it than loyalty, I think. I'd suggest that at the very least, those with dual citizenship should not be permitted to hold public offices unless and until they have surrendered all foreign citizenships.

Like everything else, it can be used responsibly or it can be abused.

Still not back but felt this was worth posting.  Watch your backs people, if this goes full force it could kill the entire OSS movement, and bankrupt people everywhere, as from what im reading any OS that is installed in the state must ask for age/ID and all apps must use this new invasive OS API every time they are launched and report back.

And i guarantee you this was pushed by the likes of Apple and Microsoft..  "its for the kids" my ass

My advice is to geo-block the state .  NOW .

They ALWAYS use "it is for the kids," as their excuse - even if they're all the ones on Epstein's list.

Because you can't argue with that.

"Wait a second, I have reservations..."

"So you're PRO child abuse?"

"No but..."

"No but WHAT?"

And often, it comes out of California compliance. I don't know why the rest of the States don't go, "Eff yourself," and let EVERYONE else have the unburdened versions and let California miss out.

That is ALL it would take. If everyone else told California, "No, we won't do that. We'll do what we want, and just not be available in your State..."

These things would collapse.

Suddenly, the age tracking mandates are showing up everywhere.  California, Colorado, New York, Brazil, and elsewhere.

I thought to myself, this can't be organic.  Someone is behind this.

And sure enough, someone is.  It is Facebook (Meta) who is spending megabucks lobbying anyone who'll accept a bribe to push for age tracking laws everywhere, including at the base operating system layer.

It's as plain as day to anyone even remotely paying attention that you can't do reliable age attestation without also doing identity attestation.  So there goes privacy, for pretty much anyone and anything involved.

No, it won't kill FOSS.  I've seen the "imminent death of open source predicted, film at 11" scare too many times to believe it anymore.  It isn't happening.  What's the worst that can happen?  "You need to be 18 to use Amazon, so prove who you are"?  I already gave those assholes my name and address.  TikTok can die, Facebook can die from its own creation, Linux users will simply download a module to disable it.  Best case scenario is that it drives more people underground and breathes new life into the sovereignty movement.

But isn't age tracking part of voter ID law? You've got to meet a certain base set of criteria - one of which is being old enough to vote.

There is a matrix of what qualifies a voter. If we're going to have qualified voters, we have to check ALL those boxes.

"Sure, you're an American citizen, and a non felon, but are you older than 16?"

Yes, but we're not talking about voter ID (which is a good idea and anyone who disagrees is Literally Hitler).

We're talking about laws that are suddenly popping up in all the left leaning states and at least one foreign nation requiring computer operating systems to verify the user's age at startup.

The problem is that age declaration laws are the first step in the slippery slope that leads to full stack attestation.

In essence, right now they want Operating Systems to have an interface userspace programs can use to determine if the user is allowed to perform an action which requires permission from the government. It is really that simple yet nobody is stating it.

Right now they are only demanding the interface to exist. Because you cannot pass a law making the interface truly enforcable until it is in place and tested to work.

Once it is in place you may expect certain programs to be required by law to make use of this interface, or to have the interface expanded (so, instead of just age gating, it can also declare whether you have a license for reading forbidden books or whatever) and if circunvention becomes popular then they will mandate hardware vendors to lock their bootloaders so that only Operating Systems aproved by the government can be used.

I think this is less catastrophic than it sounds because a) industrial equipment will probaly not be affected, so just drop money on a server board to build your workstation and then use a patched AgeD daemon that always says you are allowed to do every single thing userland asks. b) you can bet you will be able to import equipment from any crappy factory-nation-state willing to sell unpoisoned motherboards just to destabilize the West.

What this is being useful for, though, is for those who didn't listen to Nurb and darknetuser to realize who are the suckers and assholes in the FOSS world, because now you can watch who is trying to comply with this regulations faster than the others so, maybe, the government will let them suck their dick. As expected, the ones in the race for dick are Fedora/Red Hat/IBM,

also Debian and the SystemD crowd.

Everyone with a brain (and who is not already in on the scam) agrees with the above. Age attestation is the slippery slope that leads to identity attestation.

It will be a cat-and-mouse game for some time, as we play around with the interfaces, unlock the locked stuff, argue about what counts as an operating system, etc.

I think it's more important to figure out who is behind this and shoot them in the stomach and let them die slowly and painfully.
