i hope you get burned like i did in miami and lauderdale. looked like a

lobster.

Sorry to hear that. I was in St. Louis on a business trip, indoors. No beach for me this week.

FUN FACT: St. Louis is the only place where you can go to Panera and it isn't called Panera. In its own home town, Panera is called the "St. Louis Bread Company" (pronounced "BreadCo" by the locals).

And no, I didn't visit the Arch. I visited corporate headquarters. And my hotel.

I went to Pantera bread once here in town, all they did was scream at me.  ( 2 points if you figure that one out )

I was in St Louis not long ago for an ITSM conference for a few days. Hotel was right on the river.  i walked up the arch, didnt go in.  Tried to go to lunch there in the 'town' there by the river. Was a ghost town. Nearly everything closes until like mid-evening.  It was weird.   No traffic, no people.. didnt see any rush-hour of cars in morning or evening..   hardly anyone out on the river..

Wow, IGnatius T Foobar, that's a name I haven't heard for a long time. Late 80s? I was visiting Citadels from south Jersey then. Welcome to the future.

Welcome aboard, Paphlagon. In the grand tradition of Citadel, we wish you many happy returns and to explode in a car fire. If you're an old-skool Citadelian then you will definitely find yourself very much at home here!

If you frequented the South NJ Citadel scene then you were probably friendly with Vince Q as well. He was a regular here for a long time. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago and we miss him dearly.

i miss snow.  but at least its coming "soon", i hope.

People who misses snow does not have to deal with seious snow.

I bet my feelings when I hear somebody misses snow are similar to those of desert people when they hear somebody misses the summer sun.

I have had to deal with serious snow. and cold, so i know the 'realities' of it.  And i still miss it. Part of it is due to health reasons. Physically i do poorly in sun/heat ( above about 70 degrees ), but i thrive in cold and darkness.  I'm one of the weirdos here that at 2 AM when its 15 degrees, i'm out shoveling my drive without issue.   An often times after i shovel, i pack the dog up in the jeep and we go play in the snow at the park before they plow the next day.

While its not practical for me to move where they have it all year, i would like to.

A quick security announcement:

If you have an obvious or weak password, please change it.

To be clear: Uncensored has *not* been compromised. However, some scumbag from out of town has been trying out names from the user list along with weak passwords -- such as a password identical to the user name, or the user name with "1" appended to it, or the word "password" -- and then signing these accounts up for a service called "myMail".

I don't know what the attacker's intentions are. If they intended to use compromised accounts to send spam, they will be disappointed to learn that we do not give outbound Internet email access to most accounts. One account belonged to a banned user so their attempt to post a spam message ended up in the Trashcan for all to see. That's just about it.

It is kind of weird that someone was smart enough to log into the site and download a list of user names, but was not smart enough to figure out that nearly all those names are accounts that have the same level they would get if they just logged in as a new user.

Its too bad you cant lock the accounts on poor ones and notify they have to recover for a new one.

( and i know, all sorts of issues with that, including determining the poor ones. )

Well, I added a few firewall rules to block the rather uncreative and lame attack.

I've always been an opponent of strong passwords. My software doesn't enforce strong passwords and doesn't even use case-sensitive passwords. My opinion is that if you want to make your password something stupid, that's your choice and you should totally go with it. I'm also of the opinion that the conventional measures of password strength are stupid. AOL-style passwords like "lawnmower%purple" are just as secure as a password requiring upper and lower case letters and numbers and special characters.

What I can't have, however, is people using weak passwords to abuse my system.
That's where it has to stop.

All right folks, new topic. This is a "dear lazyweb" post, and I don't really know where to post it, so here it is out in the Lobby to annoy everyone.

I am in the market for a new chair. It can be an office chair or a gaming chair, but it has to be comfortable enough to sit in all day. From an application perspective I am an ordinary work-from-home technology person who spends the day sitting in a chair operating a computer. I don't play video games at the computer (we're a console household). From an ergonomic perspective, I am a 5'4" tall, 51 year old male with arthritis in one ankle, and my computer is at a normal-height office desk with the monitor on a movable stand clamped to the back of the desk.

My budget is $350. Any recommendations?
