It happens.  I'm perpetually sad over the early deaths of Vince Quaresima (DemonStalker) and Michael Hampton (IO ERROR).  

But it happens.  That's life, whether we like it or not.

And we can stew in the sadness or we can look for joy in what we still have.  And the sappy mantra is true, that a person is never truly gone as long as their name is still spoken.

Hopefully not for at least another 30 years - but some people you know, around our age - will be in the coming years and decades. Some of them who visit here. At least one of the SacCit Sysops who was a regular on my BBS - he used to post fantasy pictures on one of my rooms, passed a couple of years ago. He was one of the Last Ones Calling - and his passing was part of my decision to take the damn thing down.

Weird, my Nephew called me on WhatsApp - he lives in Prague now - he had a dream about one of the friends I was thinking about in that last post, a bad dream - and was disturbed by it. Felt it was a premonition. I told him, "It is likely - that guy is going to check out before us, most likely." 

I just had such a huge feeling about missing running my own Citadel. I do like being a Sysop. It just sucked being the only one who ever checked in. :D

I guess today was parade day for local school and their ball teams. Damned kids were tossing handfuls of candy off the trucks and things, for home owners to cleanup.   They even threw some AT me and my dog.  ****ers need to be at home, not out in public. If it wast for my dog, and the police escort i might have ran them down and shoved it down the little pricks throat.  Grrr

When i was a kid, tossing candy would be considered littering, and we would never dream of trying to hit people with it.

About got hit by 2 highschool drivers yesterday.  

Perhaps education camps once they get out of diapers until they turn 18, isn't such a bad idea after all.

The amount of DGAF about this year's Super Bowl was unprecedented in the 40 years or so I have been aware that the Super Bowl is a thing. 

Even the news was like, "so, some kind of sports thing happened this year. There was a commercial with Bruce Springsteen in it that was pretty good." 

But... I've been saying for a while - they trick our side into doing what they want. American Football and the Superbowl is a sign of American exceptionalism that stands us apart from the rest of the global community. It is one of the things that describes the uniquely American experience. 

They want to destroy American football. They want to marginalize it - so that soccer can become the global opiate of the masses. Because Football, Baseball and Basketball are how we distinguish ourselves as a unique and individual nation. 

And if I can think it - they've already thought it. US Pro sports are a problem for globalists. 

Not to mention, their growing popularity as alternatives in other "globalist nations" is often a gateway for globalist citizens to reject the uniformity of their own cultures. That is - show me an expatriate from South Africa at a pub in England who loves American football and he'll inevitably be a Freedom and Liberty minded chap who bristles at things like European Gun control and other Nanny Government legislation. That is the kind of seed European socialists don't want to see take root.

That thing that is endless commercials and the only thing people talk about is the commercials.  I enjoy live sports.  I would watch sports on TV if they didn't break for commercials after every play.  In my TV days I worked on sporting events.  For that I can say the only reason why people watch sports is to drink.

Drinking and commercials, this is why I don't like watching sports.

I was a scrawny kid who was always pretty athletic. I didn't get picked last, even for football - because I was quick, agile, and pretty durable. 

I never liked team things. I never liked cub scouts. I never liked anything where you were supposed to buy into a "greater good through sacrifice of individuality." 

And that included almost all team sports. I liked basketball, I liked volleyball. I was actually always fairly popular with the jocks. They're sports where you can showboat and work independently within a team framework. 

I gravitated toward speed skating, skate boarding. In my early 20's, I started doing pretty intensive weight training, and got pretty ripped. I hung out with all the Sac City college jocks - when we would play casual games of football - I was one of the first picked. But I still never really cared for the team spirit part of it all. Those guys were dangerous in a pack. 

I was likewise a scrawny child who reflexively hated "dumb jocks" and "sportsball". But hey, we all think dumb ass shit as children.

I didn't ever watch Malcolm in the Middle when it was first on. Started watching Breaking Bad and everyone was gushing over "oh that guy from MItM is so good", but I figured I'd finish BB before trying MItM. Finally got around to it and all I can say is, as a smarter than average person, I could so have used that show as a kid. Great lessons, most notably: Being smart won't make you happy, especially when you remind everyone else of it. And even more importantly, it doesn't always make you right.

Almost everything that ever was a thing, is still a thing, somewhere, in some obscure corner. We ended up going to a skating rink in Ohio when we lived there - and it was still exactly the same scene it was between 1977 and 1982. Same music was playing, same contests, same light shows... same white trash girls making out back in the arcade with stoner boys. The Booth Sherriff was clearly an old school speed skater who had made a career out of his one true passion - a chubby bald dude that would occasionally come out of the DJ booth and skate aggressively through the crowd to put someone in the timeout box. 

And - even though I wasn't a local - all the locals could smell the freezer-burned-pizza and bubblge-gum flavored cotton candy stink of the Skating Rink snack-shop on me the minute I hit the rink and started doing speed-lap turns in the corners.
