I don't know how to pull it off, but last week our trainer was basically begging us to take in another GSD. Supposed to meet it in a week or so.
"its so unlike other GSDs and is so unbelievably friendly, just like yours, and with how well you have done with her, you were our first thought. we don't want to see it sent to the shelter, even if you just foster it a while", Not its "fault". The owner didn't know, but apparently their older dog in the family does not like other dogs. Sort of the situation i have here, tho we have worked around it. And fostering is a scam. its just a back-door route to adoption. i have 'foster-failed" twice now with cats. lol. tells you something if they even have a term for it.
Make that next month.. perhaps. donno. Asked for an update earlier toady. "No real news yet. the owner is trying to do what they can thru the end of the month". With luck they sort things out, make accommodations so the dog can stay, instead of being tossed out like dirty laundry.
Or not. I think we lost him last night.

Its not like a 'real' pet since they are not the most interactive things on the planet and you often don't see them for several months at a time. But he would come to the glass, wave his antennas at me, id pick him up every so often. ( cant do it much, or you hurt them ) But still sad to see his empty house. He was safe, no competition, had food, water, warmth.. i'm sure he was happy.
He was with us a bit over 10 years, had been with someone else for a while before us. No clue how old he was.

We have fish too. Cant tell you what kind. but 2 were big and white and would flex their lips a lot when they looked at you. We had a few others, but over time they didn't survive. I know fish don't live forever. But had those 2 im sure close to 10 years.
When i would sit down with the dogs in the evening for TV time ( mostly for them. i didn't actually watch it ) one would come over and sit on my side of the tank at the bottom. Both would come to the "window" if i stuck my finger on it and waved. One evening, it got into a fight or something with the other, i heard a big crash as one of the 'houses' fell over. He died 2 days later. That was also sad. After the incident the next 2 days he would sit in that corner near the couch the entire time. Like he was asking for help, but there is nothing i could have done.
Wife decided to get a bunch of random fish since the remaining one might have been lonely. its a zoo now. lots of competition.

So. New cat. Been hanging out at my place for almost 2 weeks. Wont leave my yard now. Sleeps under the Fiero. Runs out when we go out to add food or water to the bowl outside, or just to leave.
Tree trimmers came today ( not my doing, electric company is having them destroy as much tree as they can in the area. ) and decided to shove him in the garage to be safe. He loves us, but is ironically afraid of anyone else. Even the mailman makes him run and hide.. Figured he would freak out due to the work being done out back, people, noise, etc. And they got there before i was able to and he did run and hide. Managed to get him out long enough to grab him.
Called the vet. I may have a new pet. I donno. Its going to be a nightmare if i do this...

Still trying to get it in the house from the garage. Its going to take a few days. Dogs don't seem to care much about it, but one of the current cats isn't thrilled. Not like hes attacking or anything, but not happy. Which is odd, we had 4 or perhaps even cats at one point when he was around. But it was a few years ago.

I am not going to blow the location away, but just for you guys to get an idea: imagine if you were a Ford Model T fan, and you were offered a guided tour through the factory in which it was first assembled, while the factory was still operational. Well, I got a VIP ticket to a show running in a location which is equally significant for certain horse lovers.
In current days this place hosts an academy for stunt riders and acrobats, and it is the home of a whole lot of prize horses. A number of times a year, they throw a stunt show. The show itself is amazing and worth watching, but the VIP ticket I got granted me early access to the facility, so I could visit it mostly freely while they set the stages.
It was one of those experiences you just don't have elsewhere. They were exercising horses left and right, then giving them a shower, then letting them stand to dry before returning them to their friends. There was virtually no red tape so you could just walk around the stages petting all the horses who were waiting for exercising or drying. By the time you had walked all around the place they would have a new set of horses ready to go.
VIP visitors received no safety instructions and no patronizing. I think it was assumed everybody there knew their way around horses. It was weird at first because these days every amusement event comes with lots of warnings and safety indications, whereas here they just dropped you in a place full of 1200 Ib. beasts with no barrier between you and them. And some of them were visibly hostile towards the general population.
My favorite one was a young stallion who was throwing mild threat displays to anything that came near him. They had him tied with 4 ropes. When I moved closer he threw his mouth forward as if trying to bite me so I tapped his nose with my hat. He stood freezed instantly, surprised, as if something had not gone according to the plan. Shortly after, he stood with his eyes closed, drooling like a baby while I gave him a good rubbing. A monk later told me he is actually a very good boy, and that he just puts the tough guy act because he likes the attention he gets.
The main show was excelent, but whether it was or not, wasn't important, because I had already had a blast of a day by the time the main attraction started.
