Meh.
I put relatively little of myself in the FB profile, but joining was a disturbing experience. I discovered that, thanks to friends and family, there were already scores of pictures of me out on the intarweb for consumption that I knew nothing about. I can at least now somewhat control what goes out, or at least influence it.
Since I was very late to the game, I was quite disturbed with how much it already knew about me.
If I had that kind of time to kill, I would go outside and tend to an
actual garden. We have one, but nothing seems to grow too well. It's
mainly because we have a lot of big trees so there isn't enough
sunlight.

anyway, being one of those rare people who liked high school, despitee being fairly geeky, I posted a handful of pics from highschool, including one which showed a teacher who has since passed away. She was also the mother of someone in my circle of friends. The response has been great. People have been posting their memories of her and just saying that they miss her, and her daughter just posted "I keep forgetting you guys had her...your comments make me smile... thanks."
It's not much, but giving a daughter a couple extra memories of her mom - seems like Facebook's good for something.
Later in the day I *finally* taught myself how to edit video on a computer.

I'm more of a road freight girl amyway, goods seem to move by road here, we just don't have those big trains like you do. There is a railroad not far from where I live, and on a still day I hear the trains, mostly passenger, but there is the occasional freighter.
It'd be cool if BBB did get some footage, but don't make a special trip just for me ;)
If I know Big Butt Bear and I do - it would be his pleasure to make a trip out to catch some freight car footage for a fellow train spotter.
