Oh, I get it ... there are two things called Gemini, because twins.

This is one of those things that as soon as I imagined it, I assumed that someone had already written it, and yes it exists.
This is just a basic web extension that can match URL patters and replace them with other patterns. I'm using it because I got tired of Wikipedophilia and am using it to redirect *wikipedia.org/* to https://wikimili.com/$2 so I don't have to deal with the communists and pedophiles who run the real Wikipedia.
Oh, and yes, Wikimili exists and is a better way of reading Wikipedophilia than using wikipedia.com
Subject: Re: Wiki, wiki, whack the wikipedia editors in the head with a shovel because they deserve it
You do that sort of redirect with local DNS too. Not much different than black holing ads.. No plugins required then.

A trade off.

Thanks for the heads up.
I like Gopherpedia myself, which is a gopher interface for Wikipedia.

(Yeah I know ... I *do* run my own search engine, so get to it.)
So Medium, which has a few nice articles once in a while.. if you save the webpage locally and try to read it later, they have inserted javascript so it will fail on you on launch with a 404.
How nice of them.
In their case, it doesn't not work well. Lots of empty sections in the export. And code, is mangled, and cut off.
Its why i went with the save route instead of export. But when that failed too, i did end up having to do both pdf, for the details, AND copy/paste of the code.

IGnatius T Foobar, are there any parameters for the search engine that would allow excluding certain words from the results? Such as trying to search for "cyberpunk news" minus anything with 2077 in the results? (The video game has made it difficult to search for that without over saturating the results.) I tried "cyberpunk news -2077" and "cyberpunk news NOT 2077" with little effect, although the former seems to try to remove it a little from the first couple of results. I looked briefly at the documentation, and weeding out the results was not there.

As far as I am aware, SearxNG does not support so called "advanced syntax". It will pass your query straight to the backend engines. Some of them might honor an attempt at advanced syntax (ie. -2077) and some other wont.
If you want to perform a laser focused query, your best option is to switch the engines that are giving you bad results for your queries off. For example, you might turn duckduckgo and brave off and try with cyberpunk new -2077 with the rest of the backends.
Keep in mind SearxNG is a metasearch engine which is designed to find wide general information. If you are carrying out laser focused searches I think it is a bit better to use stuff such as 4get, which is described in Linux Magazine #291.
Good points. And extremely interesting. I hadn't thought about it like that. Some of the engines were indeed honoring my request to remove the unwanted results. Neat. Thanks! And thank you again for hosting the search. I use it by default now.

I am not the one hosting the instance, that would be IGnatius T Foobar :P
Who is to say you are not one in the same? Have we ever seen you both in the same place at the same time? Hmm, makes you wonder..

Hey, I'm happy y'all are using "my" search engine. Someday I might add some citadel.org branding to it, and maybe use it to draw attention to Uncensored as well, but it will always be searxng based. Share and Enjoy.
