Not to veer to much into Politics, and this isn't a personal attack on him ( see next item ), but that attitude matches up with Trump's attitude, as he has been openly pushing for Fed ownership of large parts of the chip industry, and a few others.  "for national security reasons".

And back to being 'fair', everyone in office is a Communist ( or similar ) at heart, regardless of what they claim.. the baseline is that they all want more power over us and more money than us. And they use their current power to get there. Sad part is we gave it to them and dont have the balls to take it back.

At the rate we are going, it will wipe out the world economy.  They are
borrowing so much the entire market system wont survive.

And right on cue, Bernie Sanders is proposing that the government should receive 50% ownership of all AI companies.

You know ... seize the means of production. That'll collapse the world even faster.

It's just a dumb idea. Government has no better idea what to do with this tech than anyone else does. We're all flying blind and trapped in the race-to-the-bottom-against-China or whatever you want to call it--the incentives mean that whoever *doesn't* develop this tech loses to those who do, but also we all lose. Truly a dismal situation--but Bernie will only make it worse.

Not for the ones in the club. Which is all that matters to them. More power and money for them. That is the only agenda. Everything else is a distraction.  Sure, it might collapse someday and they all get taken out back for cake, but each cycle takes longer and longer, due to the increased power they have, and they gamble that they will be long gone before it happens. So a free ride for them.

That's life. Either you have a seat at the table or you're on the menu. I just hate to see it destroying my whole industry, everything I've ever worked for.

Based on what I am seeing from where I sit, I think there will be a reckoning as many of these managers realize that vibecoding is not quite the multiplier they thought it was--maybe 2X instead of 10X after you account for getting trapped in the minutiae of real-world app development. Then they'll be in a world of hurt when they realize their team is way too small.

Not that i disagree, but 'the club' is destroying everything, not just specific industries.

And i donno, with what i have done with 'vibe' ( which i think is a silly term... Why wont the industry call it what it is? "AI assisted coding". What are they afraid of? )  id say more like 5x. No, not 10x or 100% replacement either, but 2x seems small for what its done when i have poked at it.

Yeah, this is hard to put into words. The idea I'm trying to get at is that lines of code per day does not tell the whole story. Latency still matters--and with real world apps like "integrate with my ERP
's byzantine API" the back-and-forth of everyday troubleshooting can still negate the advantage that each "fix cycle" was 10x while each "UAT test cycle" is still just as painfully long--if not more so, because now everybody has other things to do.

Best possible outcome is it destroys and replaces the H1B's and offshore code pounding houses.

All that's left to figure out after that is how someone can enter the field, since you can't start as a senior.

Trust me, companies still love poorly-paid interns and it's great resume fodder.

Ya, that is what they are replacing all of us old-timers at my office with as we either bail on our own, or forced out. Inexperienced, woke, cheap, children.  ( now don't get me wrong, some are good kids, but they are still woke and cheap.. )

Yay  SQL injection style attack at work. External web pages that feed my system.

im 'safe' from being hacked, but it does end up creating 'entries' in the system. 5000 before it quieted down.  Reached out to the people that run the external stuff,  silence.

2 years ago, same sort of thing happened, it created over 30000 entries over the weekend.  took them ( different team this time ) 2 days to stop it.  Flooded my email back end to send out notices, slowed everything down. was a mess. took me forever to clean up the mess.

Fuck that old Jew. David Lee Roth has done more for society than Bernie Sanders - as recently as yesterday.
