Here's a unique way to ruin your life for nothing:

Yeesh. I didn't know about that show but it's a pretty good example of why I seldom bother with television anymore.
As for this one -- I'd say that it was her actions rather than the show that ruined her life.
Oh it was pretty clearly the lady screwing herself over here rather than the show.
The end is appropriate, though, and kind of awesome.
What a horrible woman.

a bad Jerry Springer episode.
There's a good Springer episode?
Scripps Network and AT&T failed to reach an agreement last Friday, the day their existing contract expired. Yesterday evening, lo and behold, FoodTV, HGTV, DIY, Cooking Channel, and GAC were all gone from our AT&T U-Verse program guide.
Apparently, the two companies reached an agreement last night, so the channels should be back soon.
The fact that this has happened before, between Scripps and other TV providers, and between other content and TV providers, really has me wondering what the revenue model is for all these companies. I've been under the assumption that the content providers mostly rely on advertising revenue. If that's the case, I'd expect them to make sure their channels don't get dropped for any reason whatsoever. Otherwise, they might risk losing viewership, and subsequently, advertising dollars.

Service providers pay the networks a fee for use of the content.
The fee is somehow associated with the number of subscribers.
Advertising is simply another way that service providers and the networks supplement their income. There's a squabble over that, too; the networks are supposed to make certain bits of commercial time available as 'local avails', but sometimes the service provider trumps the network's spots, violating terms of service (but getting away with it because nobody is monitoring).
(One of our services monitors for compliance, but nobody has subscribed to it in a long time).
Mon Nov 08 2010 10:44:47 am EST EST from fleeb @ UncensoredI've been away from television too long.
Not possible
(yeah I know, they're not involved in this dispute ... it's still their fault)
<grin>
I did not realize this, but apparently The Cookie Monster has made a youtube video auditioning for SNL.

I would also like to see OJ Simpson hosting Saturday Night Live. That would be awesome.
